She enjoyed talking about taking her children to their sports games. She told me a story about how her eldest son would do karate and he would come home and show her what he had learnt, he would jump on the tables and kick and break countless vases. She also talked about going for walks with her friends and how she enjoyed catching up with them while taking in the lovely surroundings. She said she enjoyed this because it was time she had for the things she liked to do.

Yes, she migrated from India to New Zealand in 2003.
Prior to migrating she travelled throughout Asia with friends. She also travelled to Australia. When she settled down in New Zealand in 2003, she lived with her son and brought up his kids and made herself at home. She reports that she now has a house of her own where she spends most of her time.

On New Year’s Eve they would have another party and sing and dance until the countdown for the New Year begun.
9. What activities did the person report they participle in currently?
Going for walks and still reading, she said that she hardly goes for walks as much as she used to as where she lives now, is a secluded place, on the highway and there is not as much scenery as she would like. But her daughter will pick her up and they will go for a walk around the river. She competes in the annual Round the Bridges
event.
10. Which ones did they remember most clearly or get most excited about in the telling?
She got excited when she was talking about the Round the Bridges event that occurs annually in Hamilton. She reported that she loves keeping in shape and when she does this event she gets competitive and likes to challenge herself by beating her previous year time.
11. Where do they live? Have they moved houses recently, why? Do they travel, why?
She lives in a rest home and has moved out of her son’s house as she wanted to be independent as well she wanted her own space where she could call home. She does not travel as much as she used to but plans on visiting Canada at the end of this year.
12. Have recent changes in society and technology affected what they do and how they do it? Have they adapted to or taken on new occupations as a result?
The changes in technology has affected her a little in ways of communicating her relatives, she recently got a cell phone and has had to figure out how it operates just to adapt to the occupation of communicating with relatives.
13. Looking back at the discussed occupations which, from all three eras, are familiar to you, or unknown to you, now? What surprised you? What could you related to? Can you see any patterns in any of this information?
The era that is familiar to me is the older adult era as it is an area where most of the elderly like to participate in the same occupations as each other, in general. The child era was unknown to me and this surprised me. The interviewee reported that back in her day hardly anyone had a TV. It was too expensive and most families could not afford one, therefore she spent most of her childhood interacting with her siblings and friends. She reported that she was outdoors most of the time as a child, where as now days children spend more time indoors, playing on their gaming consoles and hardly interacting with others. This is because that these consoles and other such technology has become much more affordable. Another aspect that surprised me was that when she told me she left school at year seven because she had to help her mother with many occupations such as cooking and taking care for other siblings. Today in society that would not be acceptable as parents feel that children should get an education and become independent. I could relate to her when she was talking about how she gets competitive when she participates in the Round the Bridges event, as I am quite competitive myself when it comes to playing soccer. The information that I gathered from my interview shows that there is a pattern. From the time she was a child she has a lot of responsibility and up till now she still does, this has made her independent and self efficient.
14. Did the person draw any relationships between the occupations of an earlier period and a later period? If so, what and how? Can you see any relationships between reported occupations of an earlier period and now? If so, what and how?
A relationship that was drawn was between an occupation of an earlier period and a later period was when she left school she had to help her mother with cooking, cleaning and taking care of other siblings, because it was too much for her mother to do by herself. This was also seen at a later stage where she had to do the cooking, cleaning and taking care of her kids as she now had a family of her own. She did draw a relationship between the child era and now, as an older adult era. This can be seen as she is still competitive now as she was when she was a kid playing marbles. It is something that she has always been around, and having eight other siblings meant that she was always competing with them whether it is marbles or other activities. Now, she shows her competitive side when she participates in Round the Bridges.
