Dechant and Lamky offer valuable information regarding women starting small businesses in the Middle East and the issues they face and must overcome to be successful. This study is incredibly useful as it sheds light on the current pre-disposition of women (and the advancements taking place) in the Middle East and the current situation of women entrepreneurs in this area. Some drawbacks to this study were that it only investigates 10 Arab women entrepreneurs in Bahrain and Oman. Some studies have been conducted on female entrepreneurs in developing and transition economies in other parts of the world; scant attention has been paid to those in Arab countries which is what I believe motivated this particular study.…

Among the 25-34 year old population, one in four women have attained a higher education, while only one in six men have. This begins to show how women are making a better advance in education compared to men’s. This increase in education has led to an increase in female entrepreneurs, consumers, managers and investors. This will lead to dramatic increases of productivity in the economy; it is getting more money from successful men as well as successful women concerning consumerism. Entrepreneurs are also very important because of the fact that they are the people who create jobs to bring more money through an economy to keep it stable.…

During the early 1800’s the industrial growth was steady but slow and most American companies were still relatively small. It wasn’t until after the Civil War that the United States experienced a huge growth in big business due to innovative new technologies and services most importantly the Transcontinental Railroad and the first electric power grids. These innovations gave way to other new inventions, business entrepreneurs, and business strategies. The Transcontinental Railroad was the missing piece to the puzzle that upon completion caused a chain reaction that led to the growth of the United States economy during that time.…

I've always been an entrepreneur. I've run the gamut of business, from direct sales to supplement my family's income, to opening up a karaoke store, Starbuilders. I love to sing and frequently went to the local karaoke bar but was frustrated with the customer service I was getting, so I opened my own store. It was a success! I learned how to order wholesale, offered the customer service I knew I would want to receive, and worked doing something I loved. Unfortunately, after four years, I had to close due to illness. Later I worked in the mortgage industry for thirteen years before stepping aside to take care of my mother.…

I believe education is the key to success, and I try to connect my passion for success with my desire of helping others. I plan to have my own business of videography services for events like weddings, birthday parties, sweet 16’s, etc. Being a business owner has been in my mind ever since I was a part of the videography team at my church.
