The attitude of a human has always been an interest that consumed many of the social theorists. Although one unrefined attitude stuck out more in humanity, Racism and Stereotyping. This racial concern in the 21st century has continued to be an issue that is still present and is very important even though it’s true that racism and other kinds of discrimination are unlawful within the US.
I’ve experienced racism every single day of my life. People are unaware and foolish about the subject. Many humans tend to find it humorous to define someone’s race incorrectly, or define their race with degrading slang. Although problems with race and ethnicity are tied into class conflicts, Marx believed that class struggle was higher on the list of issues.
Functionalists believe that for race and ethnic correlation to work properly without stereotyping, race and ethnic minorities must be absorbed into the dominant society economically, culturally, and socially. Discrimination is seen as a positive function for dominant groups. In this unequal society the deprivation of rights and privileges in a minority group is a routine. Racial myths suggest that ending discrimination could only increase poverty to the minority and decrease the majority’s level of existing.
Symbolic theorists decipher issues in relation to race, ethnicity, and stereotyping. First theorists observe the role of social interaction; secondly they see how race and ethnicity are socially put together. Ultimately symbolic interactionalists question what it would be like if two individuals of different race or ethnicity were to come into contact with each other and how would this contact decrease conflict and stereotyping
