The first famous event that has happened was on April 4, 1968 Martin Luther King Jr the civil rights activist was shot for saying it was wrong to separate blacks from whites because all man is created equal(. Second famous event, is when Rosa Parks would not give up her seat (in 1955-1956 if they wanted to ride on the bus and a white person were to come on board they would have to get up and give their seat to that white man or woman). Third famous event was on September 15, 1963 four girls walk into a church thinking that they would be protected from discrimination, but ended up getting bombed for walking into the church. Fourth famous event is when Betty Friedan published a book “The Feminine Mystique” about how middle aged housewives worked and talked about their rights or lack of rights. It was a best selling book about women's rights back then. Finally, on 1996 “The Stonewall-riot” was a riot started by gays and a police officer. The policeman was harassing two gay customs at a bar because of that, a riot started in New York and they hid for days in an inn called stone walls fighting. That was some of the famous events that have occurred in history. People have been asked why is race considered discrimination? Well it is discrimination when someone’s ancestry, physical and cultural characteristics has been pointed out. The definition of race is an arbitrary classification of modern humans, sometimes, especially formerly, based on any or a combination of various physical characteristics, as skin color, facial form, or eye shape, and now frequently based on such genetic markers as blood groups.
