Radiology is a vital component of today’s medical practice.
Diagnostic imaging is frequently used to help identify many medical conditions from slip-and-fall fractures to cancers. As a future radiologic technologist with a Northampton Community College degree, I can provide the knowledge needed by doctors to effectively diagnose anatomical abnormalities to help provide the necessary treatments for patients. Radiologic technologists have a bigger role to play than to be just technologically savvy and to obtain diagnostic imagines. They must be team players follow orders from physicians plus have excellent interpersonal skills. As an adventurer seeking to be challenged, I find this a perfect career choice, in which I can be academically enriched and personally satisfied. As a future radiologic technologist, I not only plan to work in a hospital setting, but I also want to devote some time towards community service. I plan on joining organizations that provide medical treatment for the third world countries such as Afghanistan, a place I once called
home. As health professional, individuals are bound to be exposed to frightened circumstances. By experienced and well trained professionals. Working in a various job settings, I have learned that there are situations on will face that they have never been prepared for or trained for properly. What I have learned through my experiences is to remain calm and to strategically think my way through. Growing up in a country dismantled by decades of war, I was exposed to traumatic events. As a future health care professional, I believe I have the capacity to appropriately manage unforeseen predicaments. As in any other profession, there are procedures that have to completed, but not always required. As a healthcare professional, I know that I will be prepared to handle any situation that may arise. If such tasks include cleaning up after patients, I will treat it as part of my own professional responsibilities. No issues or delays should occur on my part to fulfill assignments, which are my principle duty. However, if such responsibilities include administering injections where it may be outside my allowed responsibilities, I will ask for assistance from those who are experts. Although I am confident that the training I will receive will allow me to perform my job in the future on my own, I believe a patient’s state of health should not be jeopardized because of untrained professionals performing exercises outside their responsibility. Therefore, no matter how experienced I may be, it will always be best to ask those who have more knowledge for their input to ensure each patient receives the best possible healthcare. My hunger for knowledge and my great appetite for science was one of the reasons I decided to pursue a career in this field. I have overcome many obstacles in my life to achieve my dream. During my high school years, I worked full time, yet still managed to do well in my classes given my poor understanding of the English language. I do not believe maintaining a passing grade while working a full time job should be an issue for someone like me. I know for certain that I will be working while in school to support myself. However, my schoolwork will be given priority. In the pursuit of my goal, I have to make sacrifices. The flexibility of my job gives an advantage to make sure I get enough time for my studies. Having crossed mountains before, small pebble such as maintaining outstanding grades should not be an obstacle. Clinical practice is a vital element of education. Clinical education is where one gets the opportunity to apply the material learned in textbooks to real world situations. I will feel very comfortable traveling to different locations where the setting is appropriate for acquiring the education and training needed to build the foundations for my career. A radiologic technologist does more than take medical images. Other unstated requirements include working with difficult patients and lifting heavy equipment in order obtains proper images. In order to execute my job successfully, I need to be in good shape when needed to maneuver difficult patients or to lift heavy equipment, if it cannot be done alone, I may ask for assistance from my co-workers. With experience, I should be able to handle most difficulties alone. In the physical state that I am, lifting more than fifty pounds or dealing with heavy equipment should not be a problem at all. My previous job has prepared me well to handle difficult challenges on a daily basis.
