that is required is a associates degree. There is no on-the-job training. Also, a person doesn't need prior experience in a related job. Being a radiation therapist brings a lot of advantages.
One important advantage to me is working with patients to help them fight cancer. Working to fight cancer to me has always been a top priority of mine. With this career path, I have a chance to help people. In addition, unlike other health professionals, radiation therapists usually only work during the day. One of my career goals is to only work during the day. Another advantages is that, there is expected to be above-average growth in this job which means job will have good opportunities (Healthcarecareers, n.d).
Some disadvantages that I have to consider is the danger of working with radioactive materials. I would have to make sure the patients as well as myself do not become overexposed to the radiation. Another con that I have to consider is that I,m working with cancer patients who who are sometimes stress out or be under a lot of stress. I have to be a positive attitude at all times when dealing with them. Additionally, I have to consider that I will spent standing and walking a lot on this profession. This something to consider in long
run.
This overlaps with your interest in health and wellness because I am still engaged and helping my community. I am still achieving the goal of health promotion. In this profession I am administering radiation, in doing so, I am insuring health and wellness to my patient. I would be also providing a positive attitude towards this cancer treatment. In this profession also goes along with my values of helping and bettering a community.
