Introduction
Christians are those who follow the teaching of Christ and abide by the laws that are constituted in the holy book. The holy book, which is the bible, provides directions that are to be used by Christians. Marriage is a covenant made by two people who come together to start or make a family. Same sex marriage is forbidden by Christian doctrines because they are not the teaching of Christ. The discussion below gives moral and social issues that forbid same sex marriage among Christians.
According to Christianity, a woman was created to be the man’s helper so that they would live together. This eliminates the idea of having same sex marriage. God is holy and that’s why he saw it fit to give a woman to a man. A woman was created from a man’s ribs. This makes the woman to be part of the man because she shares the same bone and flesh. From the bible, it is said that a man shall leave his father and mother and be united to his wife so as to be one flesh. This is illustrated in the book of (Genesis 2: 22-24).
It is unholy to have same sex marriage because it breaks the commandment of God. Same sex marriage is sexual impurity which is accompanied by sinful desire of the flesh. Homosexuality is punishable by God because it destroys the body which is seen as the temple of God. Misuse of the body is defiling of the temple of the Lord. In the book of (first Corinthians 3:17) the bible illustrates that if anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. This is so because God’s temple is sacred and we are that temple.
In the creation God created man in his own image. In his own image hew created male and female. The lord had a purpose because he wanted them to continue with his creation. Procreation is one way that man was going to continue with God’s creation. God commands man and woman to fill the earth and look upon his creation by bearing children.
