Rebecca The Jet Monologue
Brunette and bottle green-eyed, with flawless hair. She may seem like an angel, but no, she’s actually the demon in human form itself. It was another day in Hell with Rebecca Davis.
Why do I despise Rebecca so much? Here’s the thing. She’s the popular one, I’m the nerd. She gets all the guys, I get left alone. She’s got the looks, I don’t. She’s practically Regina George, and I, Cady Heron.
“That’s right, I’m going to Australia this Christmas- on a cruise! Oh right, after that we’ll have a private driver to drive us to our 5-star hotel. We’re going to have a 5-star private buffet for dinner every night. Then we’ll fly back here with a private jet. Did I mention the jet’s 5 star, too?”
I rolled my eyes and continued to copy down my biology notes. All I wanted was one lesson without having to hear Rebecca

“Even if they won’t give back, I’ll still give. There’s no Christmas spirit without it.”
“Oh, so you’re like Santa Claus?”
I cracked up laughing. It wasn’t just any laugh; it was a real genuine laugh, one I’ve not had in a while.
Lunch flew by in a blink of an eye. The entire time, Trey and I chatted and laughed so boisterously that the librarian hushed us countless times, which made us roar with laughter even more. But for some spectacular reason, the librarian didn’t kick us out. Trey and I were vastly caught up in our conversation that we had forgotten to eat lunch. It didn’t matter, though, because our chat satisfied our hunger.
For the rest of the week, the two of us took shelter from the cold in the library and comfort in each other during lunch. We didn’t sit in my usual seat anymore. No, it was our usual seat.
Who knew the snug library, filled with uncountable dusty, boring books, was the absolute perfect place for fifty-five minute talks? We not only had conversations at school, but even after school through text. Our thumbs would twiddle across our phones for hours, as we texted the night

“It’s time for lunch!” the teacher announced. Candide was quite confused, as the clocked seemed to read 11:00 PM. He was very impressed with the teacher’s tremendous analytical proficiency, for she could figure out what time it was, even though the clock was clearly not accurate. As the loud and droning sound of the bell rang, all the children ran out of the classroom as soon as they could. “How fantastic! I can’t wait to taste the mystical delicacies of Diamond Bar High School!” Candide fought his way through the crowd, but eventually reached the lunch line. Standing in the hot sun, Candide squinted as he struggled to read the lunch menu. “Special: week-old rice with a side of mystery meat emulsion” caught Candide’s eye. Candide’s mouth watered with delight as his eyes feasted upon those words. He couldn’t wait through the long line, so he walked past ten people in front of him, stood next to an unsuspecting individual, and made a new friend. As soon as he received his food, he exclaimed, “This is fantastic, this is what I have been waiting all that time for! It looks too good to eat.” Candide stared down at his tantalizing and healthful meal as he picked it up and took a bite. “Amazing! This is the most enjoyable flavor I have ever had the pleasure of tasting! There is nothing I admire more than a pungent and flavorful mix of rubber and…

It was a sleepy summer’s day and all I could think about was getting home and relaxing. The sun was gleaming down on us and glistened in our eyes as it reflected through all the droplets of water hanging off the shade cloth. The end of lunch bell finally rang and we all trudged to the lockers to get our books for fifth period. Food Technology. I only chose that subject because it was a bludge. And I guess everyone else there had the same idea as me, because they didn’t seem all that bright. We all sat down and Miss Kemp had that familiar look of sadness in her eyes when she saw it was us that she had to teach. The sky turned two shades darker as clouds began to blanket the sky. I sat up the back in my usual seat next to a quiet girl, like me. The group of trouble makers sat to the left of us and the girls who actually wanted to learn how much flour was needed to bake a cake sat up the front. To the left sat the stoners, staring straight out the window, not touching their books for the whole lesion.…
