Reflection On Mrs Wilson Comp. 2 Class
My Reflective Piece Being a student of Mrs. Wilson Comp. II Class was okay this semester. There are a few things that I did learn this semester in her class. I learned how to write a research paper and do academic journals. I enjoy doing the academic journals because it was an interesting way to find information that you are looking for. If I ever need to look up any information that I need to find on the internet I could use my academic journals method to help narrow down my information. However, the research paper was horrible because it was very difficult for me to put all your information together to try to make an argument that need to be cited if the information was not mine. It was hard to use the citation that was not mine without plagiarizing. My favorite paper this semester was my Memoir paper. I love to do Memoir papers because I am able to express my feelings and let my audience know what kind of a personal I am. I love to share my life with …show more content…

A lot of my grammar problems come from the way I talk, where I grow up as a child as well as my peers. I am trying my best to fix that problem so that I would not have to look embarrassed by others who reads my papers. I do not like the fact that when my papers are not like the teacher wanted it, and the teacher decides to read it in front of the whole class as well as others that was not in the class, not knowing how humiliating it was for me to sit there and just let my teacher talk bad about me. It was bad that people would call me and tell me what my teacher did to a student in her class and hear them laugh at me. I was glad that I had high self-esteem and was able to pull myself back together. I did not think it was very professional for her to do that. I think it would have been best if she would have talk to me after class or told me what my problem was. Out of respect I did not mean to write that paper that way. I just had a misunderstanding of the

At the beginning of the course we wrote a personal profile, where we introduced ourselves to our classmates and instructor, in it we included some things like the place where we were raised, important influences in our lives, and our dream job. As well, we introduced a topic that we would be interested in structuring and writing an argumentative paper about, I chose the Dakota access pipeline. It was a controversial topic throughout the world and it drew my interest to intellectually challenge the opposing side, along with several other popular debate topics. Unfortunately, I procrastinated throughout the entire course, because writing has never been my strongest suite. I did that because I over thought every single assignment because I was never certain if I was on the right track. Afterwards, we did a “Says Does Analysis” assignment, we had the opportunity to choose an article from the New York Times editorial. We had to determine what the author was trying to do and say, when writing his or her article. Doing this assignment, helped me evaluate my writing more in-depth, and expand upon what I was discussing.…

The fundamental skills taught in the class while useful, were already known to me. Developing a thesis, organizing body paragraphs, and the closing statements of an essay are standard fare in most high school classes today. In contrast, what I gleaned from source documentation was incredibly valuable. It taught me to scrutinize where cited data comes from, weighing credibility and judging accuracy. These skills are quickly becoming important in an increasingly "wikipediaized" world. Both APA and MLA documentation formats were acceptable for the different types of essays.…

In the book Where We Stand: Class Matters by Bell Hooks, the section “The Me-Me Class: The Young and the Ruthless” examines how the mass media influences ideas that everyone living in the united States is rich, into the minds of foreigners. This section further notes that the media makes it seem as though social and economic backgrounds have little or no influence on the world of spending because most advertisements seem to make items seems affordable and cheap to acquire. The media reveals the fantasies of life to make people think that the things shown in the media are reality, especially in the eyes of teenagers.…

ENG101 has taught me the importance of using references and how using the proper writing guidelines can improve someone’s writings. Using references establishes that the thoughts and information that you are providing is accurate and true. When using the proper writing guidelines it helps one put their thoughts into proper order and make sense of what is being said. Using the guidelines also assists in making the writing process not so daunting, by breaking it up into smaller pieces. My writing goals for my next writing course would be to improve on the skills that I have gained while taking this course. I will use more references and the writing guidelines to make my writing the best it can be and not such a daunting task. I need to improve on using better grammar and spelling. I forget where to use commas a lot of the time. Overall, I feel that I did well in this course and learned some valuable tools to take with me to assist in other courses that I will take, as well as my working environment.…

This class has taught me many things about myself along with many necessary skills needed while writing. I know now that, through hard work and determination, I can achieve what I might think to be impossible. While reflecting back on my initial writing abilities, I see the weak, uneducated style of writing. Each essay shows my progression and improvement, and, after a while, the class began to become much easier. Today, after practicing throughout my essays this semester, I believe that I, in fact, have…

During one of the weeks I had the opportunity to observe a Wilson class, which was highly educational, as I was still confused what it was. The teacher was very kind and patient in answering my questions during and after her lesson. At the beginning, she told me briefly what was focused on in Wilson overall, and specifically where the students were that I was observing. I remember seeing Wilson at AIM, but the atmosphere and how it was run was completely different. At AIM the teacher just read words and moved them on the board and let the students complete it on their own boards. She only focused on what was the right word and said yes or no, but little reasoning why. At the quaker school, the feeling was more laid-back as the students were not shot down for talking in between words. The teacher did not answer any of her questions and had the students tell her all the answers they came up with, and then went through and together decided what was the wrong word.…

Since the beginning of my education, writing essays and papers has been really interesting and fun for me, until some teachers brought me down or critiqued my work in a really harsh and tough way. For example, there was this time, when I was a freshman during high school, in which we needed to do an essay involving our activities during the weekend and the hobbies that I used to do. So I wrote down about sports, music and other activities, I was really excited about it and I actually thought that I did really well, until I got my paper back, and discovered that my grade was a C. Getting a C in my paper really made me feel kind of bad and down, but I talked to the teachers about it and he gave me some extra credit assignments that involved some extra papers and essays that had a lot to do with my experiences during school, and bullying, but hey at least I learned and practiced more about essays, and I did them, and I got a C, and then a B because my writing skills improved a little.…

    Behavior Essay

I am writing this essay for Mrs. Metty because I acted inappropriately in her class today. Mrs. Metty has discussed my misbehavior with me and I understand why I have received this disciplinary assignment. I have also been informed that this essay would be the punishment for any unacceptable behavior in Mrs. Metty’s class. The reason Mrs. Metty does not tolerate misbehavior is because she cares about me and my success in high school. It is important to her that I do well in my classes and earn good grades. It is also important to her that I learn study skills, independent work habits, and self-discipline. Self-discipline is one of the most important things I can learn in high school; with that skill I can accomplish many things. I need to learn self-discipline so I can act appropriately in class and progress further toward my goals. Acting silly, goofing off, wasting valuable class time, and acting immature are all signs of disrespectful behavior – not only toward Mrs. Metty, but also toward my classmates who are trying to get the most out of their education. Along with self-discipline, respect for others is an extremely important thing to learn. I need to realize that there is a time and place for everything. There are times for fun and times for serious work. Mrs. Metty’s class is a time for working hard to make good grades and learn study skills. There will be time for fun later – after school and on the weekends – but in class I need to focus on my schoolwork. It may not seem important to me now, but it will be at some point, and Mrs. Metty knows this even if I don’t yet. Acting the correct way in class will show respect to my teacher and my classmates. It will also benefit me on many levels. I won’t have to write this essay again, I’ll learn more in class, I’ll get more homework and studying done, and my grades will improve. However, if I choose to break the rules again, I will have to face the consequences again. That is how life works. If…

The number one reason I like to write is because it can be very challenging. There is the challenge of finding the right topic to write about. There is the challenge of finding all of the information you may need to support your topic; which could take hours and sometimes even days of your time. Once you have all the information you may need comes the biggest challenge; the challenge of organizing the paper. I enjoy a good challenge though. I…

My favorite subject is English because English is the basis of our ability to communicate with one another. English has taught me numerous skills and has helped me to become an analytically minded individual, changing my perspective on various issues. English has contributed to my overall growth as a young person, as it has showed me the many points of views, ideas, and beliefs of the human population. English has opened my eyes on many issues, and helped me to develop skills, intellectually as well as theoretically. I admire the writing skills journalists have, as well as the ability to view world issues and report them, something I have the ability to do. I have a love for writing and grammar, two valuable skills every journalist needs to posses. I also have a deep enjoyment for current world events, on a local and global scale. My passion for this art would capture the hearts of my audience, writing in such a way that they feel the need for change, and are inspired to make a difference in the world.…
