Well according to Tuckman’s group development stages it describes the development of a team.it goes from forming, norming, performing and adjourning. Tuckman’s stages honestly helped me understand what our group was going through. When we first formed our group was going through some tension when we were deciding on what we were choosing for our first speech, especially since one of our group members missed the one the first classes. That was then I realized that this wasn’t going to be easy. Then we learned about Tuckman’s group stages which helped me predict what was going to happen with our group in the near future. As for the self-centered roles I think I was a dominator because I would be the one that would talk the most during our meetings. Sal I would say was a blocker he would always have an argument for my ideas, but I wouldn’t say he was an aggressive blocker because we would most of the time go with my ideas. Kevin I would say was a loafer because he would always try to come up with an excuse on why not to have meetings. I think tasks would predominate because we would always try to get our task done before we would start messing around. I think the role that was predominate was the dominator because I would be the one that came up with most of our ideas. I think me and Sal assumed the leadership, I would say that I was sort of a leader because I mostly came up with our topics for our speeches. I would try to help everyone in our group find something to about. I would say Sal was a leader too because he would be the one that would talk the most during our group speeches and he would be the one that would ask for help whenever we needed it. I think in our group we were a laissez faire leadership we would make our own decisions and we would share our ideas when it was time to

The third stage is the norming stage. During this stage, relationships among team members are becoming closer and group cohesiveness is coming together. The group identity is really becoming clear. This stage is considered complete when the structure of the group is completely solidified and the members of the group have decided on what is considered proper behavior for members of the group. In my opinion, this is one of the most critical stages in group development.…

Stage 1 is known as forming. The behaviour of each individual is driven by a desire to be accepted by the other group members. Conflict and controversial topics are avoided and team members focus on tasks at hand. Individuals are also gathering information and impressions about eachother. Although this is a comfortable stage to be in, the avoidance of conflict means not a lot of work gets done.…

At the third meeting, Harry was absent and Felicia assumed the role of Task Leader.…

Individuals have joined an eight-week psycho-educational group to learn and develop strategies and skills to manage their lives. During the first few weeks the group had been quiet, however, in the beginning of the third week a member of the group raised concern stating that they (the group) were not happy being lectured to each week. John, the group leader continued on without much acknowledgement, which resulted in another member becoming disgruntled. The member stated that perhaps if John did not listen to them, they would not listen to him. It appears that there are dysfunctions in the group’s functioning, which could hinder the group’s and leader’s ability to work together if issues are not resolved. It is hypothesized that there are…

“Storming” as the term suggests is a period turmoil that begins shortly after groups are formed. According to Tuckman, “it is characterized by competition and conflict in the personal relations dimension and organization in the task functions dimension”.
