Reflective Account On Children And Youth Services

I worked for the Children and Youths Services. It was founded in January 2003 to provide services to the children of these Islands. The CAYs Foundation consists of an appointed board of directors made up of local citizens, who bear a love for children of these islands. The CAYs Foundation is a non-profit organisation dedicated to empower youths who are experiencing difficulties to achieve their full human potential by providing a continuum of care thru its residential and day programmes in a caring, nurturing environment, and in partnership with other agencies. In December 2002, the Children and Youth Services (CAYS) Foundation was founded as a private Government Owned Company mandated to oversee and operate two Residential Homes. The Frances Bodden Girls Home accommodate youths who deemed to be in need of care and protection and are place on court orders at the home. It was originally a girl’s home, now a Children’s home providing limited accommodation for boys and girls. The Bonaventure Boys Home provides 24 hour residential care for at-risk teens. It is a therapeutic programme that provides therapeutic Services educational and vocational programmes and social and life skills for residents who have been remanded for antisocial and criminal activities.
Youth are placed in the Homes through the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) via Court Orders. The underlying aim of CAYS Foundation’s service methodology is
