Reflective Essay: After Action Assessment
After Action Assessment Essay 1 After reviewing the corrections on the week one essay, I have found what my strengths, weakness, and what my areas of improvements are. This essay was the first paper that I have written in a very long time. Although, it was littered with errors, I still feel that I did well on the essay. I find that the best way that one can become great is to observe all the mistakes that one might make and attempt to lessen the mistakes or rid them completely.
There are some of the corrections that I was quite unsure about, such as the way I used the word “aspects”. With some confusion, I researched the definition of the word “aspects”, which I found to be “A way in which a thing may be viewed or regarded; interpretation; view:” (Dictonary.com). I felt at the time that this would be adequate for my point that I was attempting to illustrate in the essay. To mitigate these types of mistakes I will dedicate more time to ensure I understand the meaning of the words and ensure that they are used properly prior to submitting the essays to the instructor.
While writing my essay, I found myself drifting off at times and hitting mental walls. Because of this minor inattention to detail, I referred to the

I have always been confused with the use of commas and I knew that this would be a problem with me. I had originally thought that I had ensured that I had all commas in their correct places. However, I was informed of these errors and was given a link to further help me in understanding the proper use of a comma. After reviewing the attached link I now have a better understanding of when a comma should and should not be used. After conducting some research, I found that one would “use a comma after and introductory clause, after a long introductory prepositional phrase or more than one introductory prepositional phrase” (Driscoll, Brizee

I think that this paper could be improved two different ways. First, is the way I organized the essay. It skips around from one thing to another. Secondly, I need to stay on topic better because I tend to ramble sometimes in this essay. This essay is great at keeping the reader drawn in. It also has a good introductory paragraph.…

When writing an essay there really is more to it than just writing words down and making sure the words is used correctly. When someone is having thoughts they need to write them down and just go from there. At first it may not be perfect, but the writer can always go back and change the errors that need to be fixed. Before reading this I figured it was going to be about bad writing and one should not worry if it is not perfect. This made me realize that it is not about how you write, but what you write about and how to get your thoughts across.…

Some changes that I have made to this document are for example, strengthening the rhetorical appeals, cutting out sentences that were not useful, and also making the essay more direct. This shows my development as a conscious writer because I was able to take comments that I received and put them into action. Not only that, I was able to read over my essay and catch mistakes that I did not see when I first submitted this assignment in the beginning of the semester. In these final revisions I thought I was good at being able to better specify certain problems to make my argument more understandable. Also I thought I was efficiently able to re-read the essay and find sentences that did not have to be in the essay because they were either repeater,…

I have learned much in my 11 years in California public school. I learned to write in cursive; I learned my times tables; I learned the equation for a line, and I learned a thing or two about Shakespeare. However, the most important thing I learned is that is that the Common Core doesn’t work. The Common Core Standards Initiative is an approach to keep all American students on the same page. The problem is that it keeps all of us on page 1. In my AP Calculus BC class, my 13 classmates and I are piloting a Common Core textbook. At first, everyone was excited to try something new, but now we groan at the sight of the textbook. While I passed the AP test for the first year of Calculus, it has been a challenge “reviewing” these concepts in the new style. Why change a system that was proven to be successful? California, one of the last states to implement Common Core, actually made a change for the worse. Therefore, I strongly believe that the 28th amendment to the Constitution should be the nationwide abolishment of Common Core.…

My writing process has evolved since the beginning of the year. Looking back at my previous essays and writing assignments over the course of the semester, I can distinctively see a gradual improvement through the different pieces of writing. Even though the differences from my early works at the beginning of the semester might not be drastic, the small improvements are what positively impacted my writing style. From the beginning of class until now, I have discovered new strengths and weaknesses, redefined my writing process, and corrected mistakes from the essays along the way.…
