It all started the first day of fifth grade. I tried to focus on my teacher; however, the constant thump in my head drowned out her voice. Not knowing this feeling, an emotion of fear displayed on my face. I became perplexed, yet resolute. Determined to persevere through this milestone of the first day, I shifted the focus of discomfort from me to other things in class. Having this diversion, I made it through the day.
Withstanding the challenges of migraines at such an early age proved to be a blessing in disguise. I learned adaptation, strength, and perseverance. This metamorphosis empowered me to overcome obstacles yet unseen and helped shape my identity into that of a conqueror.

Prepared with the tools needed to succeed in college life, I stand resolute in knowing I have the wherewithal to oppugn what future adversities will come.
