Furthermore, not all students are completing the minimum of 20 hours required for the project. About 12 percent of the seniors surveyed who passed their project had less than 15 hours, yet 63 percent did more than what was needed.…
Researchers predicted that for classroom teachers to be effective in the 21st century with implementing technology within existing schools’ curricula, they will require assistance in organizing diverse instructional activities (Blau & Peled, 2012).…
What do you see when you look in the mirror? Are you pleased, or do you immediately come up with an endless list of insecurities? As a child one of my favorite memories was laying around the house with my older sister on rainy days. We would leave the windows open so we could hear the rain coming down on the tin roof over our patio, while watching reruns of our favorite tv show “America's Next Top Model”. I always thought that these women were gorgeous and I would catch myself constantly comparing their looks to my own. I wanted to be just like them until I realized the unrealistic expectations that they had to live up to. A sizeable butt and breasts, but not too large; they have got to be proportional. A skinny waist, impeccable hair, blemish free face although even with clear skin you are expected to cake on makeup because no one is actually pretty without mile long eyelashes, the perfect smoky eye, and exemplary contouring. Society has idolized these things as “beautiful” and shamed the girls that do not meet these standards; however, society should be making everyone feel confident in their bodies. Girls need to know that it is okay not to have an “hourglass figure” so they don’t…
In our team we have a duty rota. The details of which are entered and used in a diary system each person is scheduled in for a day of duty on a rotational basis. I enter this into an outlook diary/calendar every 6 months.…
I always knew about having to do a senior project and when it came down to it, I wanted to do something in the career I want to become. I went to my dentist to see if I could shadow them and they said no, because there was a virus going around and I couldn't be exposed to it. I tried to talk to an investigator and try to do my senior project with them since they were my second choice it didn't work out. They were always busy and everything is pretty secretive so I couldn't do it. My friend Darlin told me about how her sister did her senior project in Children's Advocacy Center and explained to me what it's about. It sounded like a great idea!…
In the section “Writing a Literacy Narrative” the four writers, Emily Vallowe, Marjorie Agosín, Shannon Nichols, and Sofia Gomez, all use a number of aspects in order to write a decent literacy narrative. The chapter begins by introducing four good examples of literacy narratives from each of the writers. However, the chapter’s main focus is not about the four examples. In the end of the chapter, a detailed list of key features regarding a literacy narrative is mentioned including the following: a well-told story, vivid detail, and some indication of the narrative’s significance. The thesis is that all of the key features will entail a well written literacy narrative if done properly. The author supports the claim by explaining that a well-told…
Psychological motives involve biological, social, and personal motives. In my daily life, I encounter biological motives in every situation. These are the necessities of every human being which have to be satisfied. I’ve been experiencing an intense desire for sleep because I don’t get to have enough sleep during week days due to school and priorities. There are also some instances wherein I have to deal with the avoidance of pain in order to meet success. One time, we had our project out of school and I wasn’t feeling well but we have to finish our task as to what is expected from us. I tried acting like everything’s alright and fortunately, I was able to fulfill the tasks given to me. Hunger is always part of my daily struggles. When I feel…
Doon. Doon. Do-doon. Doom. Doon. Do-doon. It was dusk in the Ottawa tribe’s encampment. A steady drum was coming from the surrounding forest. A woma There had not been a meeting of the tribes in many generations.#…
“You’ll never be able to run long distances again” A quote from my doctor when I was first diagnosed with both a tarsal and calcaneal coalition in my left foot. The first thought that came to my head was start digging my grave now. Monday through Saturday for me are spent at the gym or on the tennis court. If I am not training, I am teaching the sport I continue to admire since fifth grade. Those nine words rang through my ears like fingernails on a chalk board. He proceeded to place me in a cast then a few weeks later into an air cast. I viewed this as a small bump in the road and continued to strengthen my upper body and core despite my highly fashionable boot. Two months later my highly optimistic self headed to my “final” doctor appointment to be told I need to continue to wear the air cast. That day I recall telling myself “deep breaths Grace”…
Back in 1986, when I was in eighth grade; my first experience with computers was horrible. We would sit in class and enter line after line of code; which made as much sense to me as typing in a foreign language. I was typing in letters and numbers, but had no idea what they meant. Hours were spent this way; so at the end of the exercise I could hit ”enter” and see some lines flash across the screen over and over. By the time I was finished with eighth grade I never wanted to see another computer ever again. Unfortunately the following year in high school I had to take a computer course. It was more of the same; a bunch of codes and “mumbo-jumbo” that had no meaning to me what so ever. I struggled through…
I strongly believe that if one is to be successful in society, setting goals and prioritizing them is very crucial. Having your goals set and prioritizing them does not only give you a clear focus on things you have to do, but it helps you to organize your plans so that you can set time limit and boundaries in achieving those goals. There are so many goals that I want to achieve my life. Since goals can only be achieved if they are realistic, timing and attainable, I have categorized my goals into long and short term goals.…
After retaking the LASSI I have noticed a considerable amount of improvement as well as regression. In the beginning of the year, I vowed to myself that I would become a better student. I wanted to maximize all of my abilities in order to be successful. So, after I took my first LASSI and had my talk with Mac, I began to implement new strategies meant to help me accomplish my goal. First I had to deal with my anxiety. In past years I suffered with a lot of anxiety while learning math. I used to love math very much, however, this changed after my 6th grade year. Math became a foreign subject to me. I could no longer make connections and solve problems. As a result, my grades in math began to drop. As a person who is used to getting A’s and B’s on assignments, I had a difficult time in coping with my failure since it didn’t live up to my standards in the subject of math. My difficulty with math eventually caused me to have anxiety. I had carried this anxiety until my sophomore year in high school. It seemed as if no matter how hard I tried to concentrate on math tests my mind would always become blank. Luckily I had an…
I've always prided myself on my ability to adapt. Being optimistic and working with the cards I've been dealt, has always been my strong point. When life throws something at you knowing how to adapt to it is your best option and it affects the way you look at life.…
In Photography, there are many different styles and techniques used, every single photograph is constructed; from the setting up of equipment, finding the model, producing the set, taking the images, and finally choosing and editing final images. You can also de-construct many images, and produce a narrative towards the photo, create a story and being able to produce a meaning in your own way, or what you think the photographer is trying to create behind the image itself. Photography is also a piece of art, not just a picture; every photo a person takes, produces a symbol in some way, such as a symbol in a painting, almost like a meaning. This is the same as a photo; every photo has a meaning no matter what the meaning is or if each person has a different meaning to the photo.…
