Registered Nursing
Rosa Lee
Reflection 1
4 March 2014

The topic I have chose for my senior project is registered nursing. One of the minor

problems I have is selecting my mentor. I want to choose a nurse who has been in this

career for a rather long time. I feel this would benefit me more than someone who has

only been a nurse for a short period of time. Another problem is deciding if I want to be

a specific type of registered nurse.

When I started my project, the only set back I may have had was choosing what I

wanted to do my project on. There are so many amazing career paths a person can

choose. A person has to have a strong sense of their self and what they expect out of

life. Whether they wish to have an easy path or if they wish to take the path that is more

difficult.

My research has taught me that I can do anything I set my mind to. I thought that

becoming a nurse would be more difficult and take a longer time in school to get my

degree. I now realize that if you are passionate enough about something that is doesn’t

matter how long it takes to achieve it. Also one must be positive that the path they

choose is what they want to do for years and years to come.

By the end of my project I expect to know exactly what the duties of a registered

nurse are and what I have to do to achieve my goal. I want to know the best course of

action I need to choose in becoming a nurse. I also expect to find out the right path if I

choose to go beyond being a registered nurse.

As of yet, I have not had to over come any obstacles for my project. At some point,

I’m sure that some will arise and at that time I will look at them from all angles and try

to choose the best possible way to overcome them. I just have to keep my outlook and

decisions positive as much as possible.

My advice to my underclassmen is to choose a topic that is most passionate to them.

Being in the medical field for the past ten years, I have seen the growth and changes in the medical field. When I began my nursing career as a medical assistant, I noticed many other nurses continuing their education to be able to have greater hands on approach in nursing. This opened my eyes to the endless possibilities that a nurse can do, whether it’s with direct patient care or being a resource to patients and other nurses around. After completing my RN in May of 2015, I decided that I really enjoyed being a mentor and teacher to other nurses. That is why I am continuing on with my education in hopes to one day receive my Master’s degree in Nursing and be able to utilize the knowledge and skills that I build, to educate patients. I still…

The most important factor in why people choose to do something is the outcome of what he or she is doing. When someone does something they usually think ahead because they want to know if what they are doing is going to react in a negative or in a positive manner. Some people choose to do something because of how it will make them feel instead of how it will effect them and their life. But, even though some people choose to do something based on how it will make them feel inside, most people do things because they want something out of it, even if it is not always good.…
