1. Motives and Context: The primary source was an interview conducted by Henry Halem in 2000, who interviewed a former Kent State student named Rob Fox. Rob Fox witnessed the 1970 National Guard shootings at Kent State University in Ohio. He was a young student at the time who was really against the war in Vietnam and against Richard Nixon's proposal of sending troops into Cambodia. This source was intended for a general audience, who wants to analyze and hear first-hand accounts of what really occurred in Kent State. The interviewer who interviewed Rob Fox and the Kent State University wanted to document and record the experiences of the students and witnesses who experienced the Kent State shootings in the 1970s. Rob Fox shared his story as best as he could remember and he said, "When we tell our story, people listen to use. And people want to know what really happened there. So that's why I came in today. I have wanted to do this for a long time." He wanted to share his experience and have his voice recorded to tell the story of what went down in Kent in the spring of 1970. One specific feature of the source that provides evidence of the author's motives is when Fox discussed how the National Guards marched…

Movies have always been a way to escape the world for a little while. Comedies, action films, and even horror; what happens in movies doesn’t always happen in real life, but sometimes it does. They open doors to the past, present, and future. I just finished watching the movie Elizabeth (1998) and the funny thing is I actually learned. Elizabeth is a great movie because while being entertaining it shows many of the 6 main themes of AP World History. War, violence, and religion are all parts of this movie, each part of a different theme. Now I would like to explain how this movie relates to World History.…

This essay will take an in-depth look at the history of Hollywood during the late 60s and early 70s. This period of time is considered to have been a renaissance for American cinema, and was titled the ‘New Hollywood’ by cotemporary critics of the time. In order to understand the changes that Hollywood went through the late ‘60s, you first have to examine the preceding era of Hollywood filmmaking during the 30s and 40s. This was a period that is commonly referred to as Hollywood’s Golden Age; when the dream factories were in full swing and the audiences were in regular attendance. This period of time could be defined by a number of social, political or economic contexts, but it’s the filmmaking practices that were employed at the time which…

When visiting a movie theater people expect a quiet respectful environment for the movie, but sometimes people's annoying behaviors get in the way. These people can ruin the movie for people who are actually trying to enjoy a possibly worthwhile movie. Sometimes adults can not find a babysitter or just bring their children to the movies, these kids can not sit still for more than twenty minutes let alone be quiet for a two hour movie. With the new modern phones with illuminated screens another issue arrises of people who distract others by extra sounds or lights from their devices. People also have the habit of talking or acting disruptive to their own group or people surrounding them. Some people also get up constantly during movies and they decide to sit in the middle of rows rather than the end of one. These people pose a distraction to the people in there own row and the rows above them because of the blockage of view. In a movie theater many people can witness or have annoying behaviors some of these are crying kids, people on their phone, people talking, and people standing up or walking past.…
