Research Paper On School Lunches
Letsmove.gov stated on their website, “Many children consume at least half of their meals at school, and for many children, food served at school may be the only food they regularly eat.” Because of this, I think schools should improve the quality of the food and have more nutritional food options. In this essay I'm going to prove how having appealing lunches and more nutritious/ better quality foods will improve a student's education.

I think that schools should have more nutritious and better quality lunches. Many people don't eat school lunches because of the poor quality, so doing this could lead to more students eating school lunches which therefore those students would be getting a healthy meal so then they will have a better chance at doing well in school. Studies show that a healthy lunch can give children the energy they need to stay focused, pay attention in class, and learn the information presented to them in their classes. Also, the better a student’s eating is, the less likely they are to fail a test. This information supports my idea that having more nutritious meals and better quality lunches will increase the persons ability to do better in school.

Currently healthier foods cost more to make and many schools don't have that extra money to spend, according to www.artifactsjournal.missouri.edu. However, having better quality foods could increase the number of students eating school lunches, which then the schools would make more money. Also, having a complete nutritious lunch can improve a students’ tests score. According to www.wilder.org, research shows that nutrition affects students’ thinking skills, behavior, and health, which are all factors that impact a students academic

Recently there has been revisions to the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and schools were required to overhaul their entire menus to provide the students with healthy and nutritious foods including fruits and vegetables. The new school lunch rules are part of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 which has been implemented this fall. (Post Standard) The Hunger Act allows the USDA the opportunity to make reforms to the school lunch and breakfast programs. With these revisions come strict guidelines from the federal government that each school district must follow in order to receive funding and reimbursement (National School Lunch Program, 2012, August p. 1). In this essay i will be comparing the positive and negative effects of these recent revisions to the NSLP. I will then discuss whether or not these changes are beneficial to the children receiving the meal and whether NSLP is leaving children hungry or helping children make healthy food choices.…

One reason that the school boards should improve our school lunches is because kids get to choose want they want for school. According Mary L. Gavin, MD can choose to eat the green beans or throw them out. A kid also can choose to eat an apple instead of an ice cream sandwich. Another reason is Because they serve junk food everyday. According to Richard J. Codey junk food should be banned at schools because it leads to obesity. It also can affect their future for them. My last reason they should change our school lunch is that during lunch a kid eats half of their calories during lunch in school, because they…

School lunches are almost always inadequate. More than half the students leave lunch hungry. They give choices of vegetables but when they don't taste good they'll just be trashed. If they eat eight hundred calorie meals and they only eat one fourth they only get two hundred of those calories. That's possibly for a high school student that plays three sports a year that won't be home until after six or seven o'clock.…

My opinion on school lunches is that it needs to be changed because of many complaints due to the lack of taste and and nutrients needed for the body.As many people know students dislike school lunch and the numbers of students buying hot lunches dropped over the course of the school year which used to average about 330 hot school lunches bought but now its only about 225 which further proves my point. Also the school lunch that they serve is pizza, chicken nuggets, and tacos. Do they sound healthy to you? well these are some of the menu items available to buy in school at lunch.Although schools did try to change the lunch healthier they did not succeed which leads me on my next topic.…

A healthier school lunch plan; would this be more beneficial for the students oppose to a better tasting, less nutritious lunch? I'm against a newer more healthier lunch plan due to the reason that we students really don't need it nor want it. In this essay I will state and explain my position on this topic of disagreement. First, the school lunch plan we have now still has nutritional value in it. It just doesn't offer as much nutrition in it compared to the new school lunch menu. For the students that actually need a more nutritious diet we can a establish a special lunch plan for them; but by establishing a completely healthy lunch plan for all the students isn't necessary. Next, the students like the lunches the school offers…

Most of the time the class that kids have immediately after lunch is the class that they don't do as well because they are not getting a healthy lunch and there brain's glucose supply is low. Finally, schools should serve healthier school lunches because when people, especially kids keep themselves well-nourished, they can participate more fully and effectively in a wide variety of activities. The first issue to take in consideration should be school menus. As of late, school lunches do not contain the proper nutriments that students need in order to become healthy, happy, and productive learners. Part of the problem is that cafeteria menus rely on heavily processed food with little nutritional content. Science has proven that nutrition is in direct relation to a student 's ability and willingness to learn. “Processed food tends to bring down people’s energy levels and make them lethargic because they are filled with carbohydrates that spike blood sugar levels. This makes people feel sleepy and less inclined to be active and alert” (TruthNHealth). Such foods also lack most of the necessary vitamins, proteins, fibers, minerals and Omega- 3 fatty acids which are critical to brain function and which are often deficient in students’ diets.…

The nutritional deficiency meals that the school has been giving our students have had a negative impact on their academic performance. Some have debated that the educational curriculum is a result of students having poor academic performance. They reported that the educational system failed the students and resulted in their poor performance. In the contrary, a students’ attention, alertness and retention which effects their academic performance is greatly affected by the meals that the students consume. A study conducted by Florence to examine the effects of diet quality on academic performance and their “findings demonstrated an independent association between overall diet quality and academic performance.” (Florence, 2009, Discussion section, para. 1) A student that is not malnourished will have the physical and mental ability to excel in any given environment or qualities of education compare to a student whose attention, alertness and cognitive process…
