Would your parents pay you to do chores? I think kids should be payed to do chores. It will help us understand money.Be more organized with stuff. Be more responsible with what we do. Learn to manage money the right way. We can go out with friends and have fun.…
“What are we learning for?” is a question asked by Steven Vogel and Jerry Farber in their essays because the students just focus on grades. In “Grades and money,” Steven Vogel gives the readers a true view of how students think on these days and what are the causes and effects of this grade system. He also raises a question of values of life. On the other hand, Jerry Farber, in his essay “A young Person’s Guide to the Grading system” Farber believes that learning is for better life. Moreover, the students should make the time in college worth it. They have to focus to learn not to care about grades; Farber states an important point that…
Why should kids be paid for doing a professionals job? The debate on whether or not to pay college athletes is a debate that has been argued for quite some time. Due to the lack of positive results, and a surplus of negatives, this should not take place. There is no way to muster up a fair system to pay the athletes while keeping everyone happy. Also, paying players will distract them from their academics due to them knowing that they can make money playing sports. Lastly, the athletes already have an opportunity for money with scholarships. Therefore, in order to keep college athletes happy and focused on school while still giving them an opportunity to receive scholarships, the students should not be paid for their athletic performances.…
Imagine this: you're a teacher at a very prestigious school, with an exceptional group of students. Your students try their hardest, but some subjects of the curriculum are more difficult than others. Most kids do well on the tests, with a few slipping through the cracks, and the only thought you have is, “how will this affect my paycheck?” Merit pay, according to google, is the raise in pay based on a set of criteria set by the employer. Merit pay is nothing but pernicious to not only the teacher, but the student and school as well. Pay for performance leads to no improvement in teaching by stripping teachers of their motivation to teach. It also leads to a narrower curriculum and ultimately more test prep and money. Additionally, it ultimately leads to corrupt incidences, such as the situations in Atlanta, North Carolina and New York.…
This is not a cool thing to do. This is like if you did all the work for someone on a test, but instead of you getting the A, the other person gets the A. See, your probably thinking that is it not fair because it isn’t. An example is of the college football national championship bowl game. The players are the ones that get the winning record and stuff, but by just making it to the bowl game, the school makes on average 7.4 million dollars. That’s not even if you win either. Even the coaches get an average of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars along with their paycheck by just making it to a college sport championship. I mean it wouldn’t hurt to pay the players something like two thousand dollars. On a football team there are about sixty players so that's one hundred twenty thousand dollars. Compared to seven million that's nothing. Sure people might say things like:If you pay college player, they might spend their money on dumb things like liquor and maybe drugs. If you are thinking something like, I assure you that will not happen. I remember my Dad saying that there are no idiots in college. If you do something like that, and they test you for drugs and the test is positive, then you could get suspended or maybe kicked off of the team. This is why you could at least give players a small portion of the school's earnings.…
It's just a very bad idea in general. We would be giving people money for what they won't be doing to prepare for their future. Paying them could also risk the possibilities of finishing college and getting their degree. “Athletes who take to a classroom naturally or are encouraged to focus on grades should be able to do well in the classroom. I believe the reason you go to college is to get your degree. It’s not a minor league or an audition for the pros.” (Lobo). When you go to college, college is supposed to prepare you for the future like jobs and how to financially help you, Not pay you!…
Student-Athletes who are recruited to play a college sport are going in with one goal, to play their sport professionally by being the best player they can be. Unfortunately only about 3% percent of NCAA athletes in their respective sport go on to play professionally. The other 97% spend hours and hours of their precious time practicing on the field all for no future in that specific field of work. Actually according to Forbes, Marc Edelman reports “student-athletes work 3 and a half more hours a week than a typical american worker”(Forbes) If an NCAA athlete spends over 40 hours a week practicing their game, then they are working the same amount of hours as people who are in full employment. These hours are spanned over practices, training, games traveling, attending classes, and maintaining grades which is important in order to remain on the team and keep their full scholarship. For people that complain about their jobs and only have to work less than 40 hours a week, think about a student athlete whose job is not only intellectually demanding but brings them to the limits of their physical endurance as…
There are about 480,000 student-athletes in the United States and none of them are getting paid to play sports in college even though they are practicing for over forty hours per week. Some people say that the student-athletes have already gotten paid with scholarship money, however, they don’t get to choose where that money goes. Scholarship money that they receive goes toward tuition and room and board. College athletes often need money to pay for food, but unfortunately they can’t use that scholarship money. College student-athletes should be compensated because it will increase the graduation rate, they have no time left to get a job, and they deserve a fair share of the profit.…
The federal government already loses over $77 billion a year on educational grants and tax breaks, meanwhile students pay about $60 billion a year to attend public colleges and universities. By the federal government simply footing the bill instead of laundering money, public two and four year institutions could be free. This plan means cutting off aid to private institutions, but they can be left to their own endowments. This revolutionary change would mean no more confusing financial aid systems and no more crushing student loans. It is in the country’s best interest to have young adults who are educated, socially mobile, and not saddled with mountains of…
The government gives out money for the community and what they have to do is divide the money between schools,…
The revenue would go toward free tuition at public colleges and universities and would also be used to pare down student debt and pay for work-study programs, as well as other programs, Sanders says.…
Higher education is extremely important in American society today in order to get a well-paying job and earn enough money to pay off bills. Unfortunately, in order to pay for higher education students are becoming more reliable on financial aid in order to help pay for just one semester of college, which can cost up to $20,000. Many people may say that it is crucial to pay all of this money in order to attend college, but most students are being put into debt, they are being required to take out loans, and most of the money that students pay towards their college tuition does not benefit them directly.…
Another reason why i think students should get paid for having good grades is because if they got paid that would be more kids getting better grades and getting money and they get rewarded. More and more students would be going to school not missing or skipping. There are studies that show more students do better when they get paid for doing it. People wanna work hard when they have a motivation. Getting money for getting good grades would possibly be one of the best ways to go or it also could be the worst way…
Thinking about it in the fairest way possible, one could come up with a way to distribute funds better than they are currently being distributed, but it will never be completely fair. In such a scenario, you are damned if you do, and damned if you don’t. I personally believe that a great way to redistribute funds a little more fairly can be by ways of income tax. I feel that a person’s cost of living should play a bigger part when being reimbursed during tax season, after all we do pay almost 40% in taxes, according to High-income Americans pay most income taxes, but enough to be ‘fair’? (2015, March 24), and we don’t work 40% less hard doing so. Otherwise weather it is raising wages or lowering the cost of living, there is some way or form to make life a little less financially difficult for the middle and lower…
Etymologically, the word "education" is derived from the Latin ēducātiō (“A breeding, a bringing up, a rearing") from ēdūcō (“I educate, I train”) which is related to the homonym ēdūcō (“I lead forth, I take out; I raise up, I erect”) from ē- (“from, out of”) and dūcō (“I lead, I conduct”).[2]…
