you don't see them disappearing. Although he did write a letter to a friend, plus he had the post office hold on to some letters to buy him, some time. At the same time I disagree with the way Callarman makes his observations, he clearly isn't too adventurous. Who is callarman and why does he dislike Chris? I agree with Carmen's main point, Chris left unprepared for what awaited him, but I didn't like his improvement to the subject. Equally important, Chris Mccandless wasn't any fool after all he did graduate. Going to university is a dream for many young Americans, so when we see rich kids complain about life we get furious. I honestly don't care about one’s material and Chris Mccandless obviously didn't either, we have that in common. If you ask me, my parents and friends are the most important thing in life. Chris didn't have that, he had abusive parents who frequently fought each other in front of him and his sister. I admire his determination, I wouldn't have made it that far. I don't like to escape problems, they will never go away, they will return to haunt you. Chris tried to leave it all behind, but he couldn't, no one can the memories, the fear, or someone reminds us what we left behind. We wish we could never look back. Not only did he leave his parents, but his sister, if he really loved her he wouldn't have abandoned her!
I have a 10 year old brother, and I wouldn't have left him. Was Chris really a selfish person or he wasn't thinking straight? Who knows what lies behind those pictures and name writings of Chris Mccandless. I believe that your family has the right to know where you are and that you are safe. I have seen many cases like this, family members suffer too. Of course we all had different parents, but he was already a graduate student, he had his whole life ahead of him. If I was in his feet I would've liked to search for happiness with other people buy a place to call home. But we all are in search for happiness, because happiness doesn't come from man, it comes from our
creator. Finally, we can say that Chris was different. He had goals of his own, some that we will never understand. Shaun Callarman was a bit foolish himself as well, Chris had some noble ideas. For example Chris believed that money was the root of all evil and that's why he burned his. He must have found what he was looking for, they found a note in the bus that said “I have found a happy life and thank the lord. Goodbye and may god bless all!” In Sean Penn’s adaptation of Jon Krakauer's book, Into The Wild we learned how one person escaped society, whether he found happiness we might never. Shaun Callarman was and still is unqualified to say what is crazy and what isn't. I agree that you can't just leave, but I didn't like the way Calmara made his observation. You can’t escape your destiny, you can escape your life, it will hunt you until the end of your days.
