Rgc Marching Band Review Essay
RGC Marching Band “Paradise Lost”
It took us hard work over the summer with struggles of band members' instrument being out of pitch or off timing etc. Although, it was all worth it until we heard the words from the announcer at the area competition that we can move forward state. I can remember people next me cheering and crying. In fact, this band of ours has not been in this type of event in over 33 years and it is not just significant to me but also to the band and people part of it at that time. What I have learned from this experience that with hard work pays with the time spent on .
The work that took for us to get there was not easy and took many hours in the hot sun and so forth. We got yelled at, had many repetitive rehearsals, but we all thought this dream is some paradise that is lost but would be found later on. The ironic thing about this is that our show was call “Paradise Lost”, and the name, to me, makes it seem like if this is like a prediction that came true.
That year, I

That performance was better than the last one because of all the focus we put into the show. After that we ate and waited for the results to come in and when it was time, it was one the most suspenseful feeling I remember of that night.
When the announcer announced the words “Rio Grande City Division Advance.” It felt like the best because of the hard work we put in as a band and myself
In the summer, I had trouble adjusting to my new instrument, the Vibraphone. I had practice almost every week to perfect notes, rhythms, etc. I also had to also make my cousin Domingo to match visuals and to perfect his playing. I all remember is that every day I had to match visuals with the rest and the number of time I had to get after my

I am interested in joining UNCC's symphonic band. I have mainly played mallet percussion at my high school's Marching Band for two years, and played timpani and auxiliary percussion for the school's spring musical. I was wondering what will I have to do to audition? I have friends that are majoring in music that had to choose a song to learn before being auditioned.…

I am a leader. I have all the qualities that make a great leader, but I was not born this way.Experiences and how someone reacts to those experiences are what truly make a leader. One of the most influential experiences I have gone through is called the Lebanon High School Marching Band. I am certain that I wouldn’t be who I am today if it weren’t for marching band. Before coming to high school I already had leadership qualities, but band helped bring all those great qualities together and helped me get past my two major flaws: my lack of self-confidence and the fact that I was probably one of the shyest people you would EVER meet. When I joined marching band, I spent most of my waking hours sweating and suffering alongside wonderful people that I longed to…

In seventh grade I used to be in marching band. I had done band in sixth grade as well, but this year it was marching band. I played the clarinet and I was pretty good at it. In the middle of the school year we had a parade that our band had to march in. It was something that I had never done before, so I was a little bit apprehensive about doing it. People who who were new to marching band like me were referred to as “newbies”, which wasn’t very many people. During marching band practices all of the “newbies” were put in the back because we didn’t really know what we were doing. Over time all the newbies got better, but that didn’t seem to apply to me. I could keep tempo and play my instrument while marching in sync with everyone and I would…

Influence, the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something. There is a good chance that most of us have been influenced by someone or something throughout our lifetime. We all offer the ability to influence, and to be influenced. Sweat drizzles down my skin as it exits my pores trying to cool my heated body. The blood rushes through my veins pumping blood with the consistent pounding of my heart. Every breath, every second, every action, every thought; I am standing where everything counts. Artificial turf and grass crumpled beneath my torn black shoes and the thick silence only cut by the timed chants from afar. This is the last moment I will stand here for this reason. This is the last moment I will stand here with my family. This is the last moment of my marching band career. Many will say that this was a special group of kids, others will say that this year was a show that was made to make it. I, on the other hand, will say that this was because of seven years of dedication.…

I think that I owe most of my improvement the BRHS Marching Band. Being a part of an activity that demands you to be the best you can and then some made me feel like I was not a new student. Marching Band taught me a lesson that most people learn when they get to college, time management. “If you are on time, you are late, if you are early you are on time, and if you are late, get ready to run laps.” I have this posted on my bedroom door to remind me that time management is a key life lesson. Balancing the demanding schedule of band and school taught me to not procrastinate. It has also showed me that when you work at something really hard, there is not one thing that can stand in your way when you reach to grab it. I still remember the moment I heard the announcer say the name of our school at the state competition. I can’t describe the excitement I had when I heard that we beat…

Success is portrayed differently in each person’s mind. However, to be successful, you have to have the drive to achieve that rank. In my church youth group there was always a music competition between the other churches in the tri-state area. It was my last year in the program, so I decided to enter under advanced percussion. The day I signed up was the day I started to write. The competition was months away, but I wanted to get ahead of the game so I can keep my first place title. By the time the competition came around, I had my whole piece written and hours of practice behind me. That constant drive kept me on my toes for this competition because I wanted to be the first place winner. My drive wouldn’t let me settle for second place due to the fact that I wanted to be…

I have always wondered what wins in audition or even life talent or hard work, well I found out. I have been in show choir for 5 years now and since the very beginning when I went to a show I fell in love, and from that moment on my goal was “Making the All Americans”. See the All Americans is the high school group and in my opinion the best. Though the directors tell us that the girls group “Rouge” is not a B team and is just as good; I don’t think that's true. I had been working towards this for the whole time I was in ETC, the show choir school.…

Band season was up and away. It’s said rookie year is always the hardest, learning all the moves for the first time, the music is more difficult, and trying to just fit in. For my rookie year the music was from the hit movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. Three phases or parts that were a mix of songs from the movie. All our hard work through the season put into just an eight minute show that needed to go perfect. There were many practices, football games and other competitions. It was a good amount of time spent throughout the fall. The competitions before went well, we usually placed high and got best percussions, but we had still never reached the highly mark of getting a 1.…
