This is James's last album during the 90s to emphasize analog synthesizers. With the release of his fourth studio album in 1995 as Aphex Twin, the Richard D. James album was where James began showing the use of software synthesizers and unconventional beats. The following year came the release of his Come to Daddy EP, along with a video directed by Chris Cunningham for the albums’ title track. The Come to Daddy EP would bring much success James’s way, though he did not take it well. A few years later he would release the Windowlicker EP. With much success, but very little in the way of promotion or live concerts. As the 21st-century came to be, James found himself the experimenting with the ideas of prepared piano and exploration of digital technology.
