There are several projects, organizations, and parks related to protecting biodiversity that I had intended to write about; however, having visited the beautiful city of Treviso, and spending some period there, I felt it is essential to write about the Parco Naturale Regionale del Fiume Sile which is translated into English as (River Sile Natural Regional Park). Where is it located?
The River Sile Regional Natural Park is located in the city of Treviso, in the province of Padua in Italy. The park lies between eleven municipalities and occupies 4152 hectares (16 sq. miles). Additionally, the Park has various springs. One of such spring is in Casacorba di Vedelago while another is in Torreselle di Piombino Dese. These springs are the sources of Italy’s longest resurgence river (Parco Fiume Sile, n.d.).
What is its mission?
The mission of the River Sile Regional Natural Park as specified in art 2, clause 1of the Regional Law of 1991 indicates that the Park is out to protect the soil and subsoil, flora, fauna and water; enhance the drainage basin as a source of drinking water, safeguard, maintain, restore, enhance, and promote the natural, historical and …show more content…
In 2013, the Park embarks on a project of assessment of biodiversity of various species in order to effectively protect them from abuse. And recently, the River Sile Regional Natural Park began a project on the eco sustainability of various species. This project is intended towards educating people, including tourist and non-tourist on the benefits of protecting and preserving the earth’s natural resources.
