What is hardware?
Tools, machinery, and other durable equipment: "tanks and other military hardware".
The machines, wiring, and other physical components of a computer or other electronic system.
What is software?
The programs and other operating information used by a computer.
Types of software;
Generic
General-purpose software, such as word processors and spreadsheets.
Specialised packages
Sold for specific uses, e.g. managing the accounts of a large organisation.
Bespoke software
Written specially for the end user by a team of people within the company or by external consultants; for example the software which manages London's congestion-charging system.
Word processers – an application used to write, edit format text.
Spread sheet – a spread sheet is made up of cells, rows and columns. Each cell holds a numeric (number) alphanumeric (text) data cells can also contain formulae to calculate their contents.
What is the difference between both Hardware and Software?
Hardware is physical components that run or work with the computer. The mouse and keyboard are hardware. Software is the internal applications installed on your computer such as Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft which are software internal applications.
Correct Procedures to start and shut down a computer/laptop.
Shutting down.
1. Shut off every window one by one.
2. Make sure all CD/DVD/USB thumb drives are out of the computer.( wait till it says safely remove hard drive instead of grabbing out)
3. Start>turn off computer>turn off
4. Wait till computer is completely shut off
5. Switch off monitor.
Turning on
1. Remove all floppy disks, CD’s and DVD’s from your computer.
2. Click the start button> click the arrow at the side of shut down and then click reset.
3. Do one of the following-
