In the story of Romeo and Juliet, two teenagers from enemy families fall in love and after several deadly feuds they take their own lives. You could blame several people for this tragedy. While Romeo and Juliet physically took their own lives, Lord Montague and Lord Capulet are at fault for their deaths.
Some people may think that Tybalt, Juliet's cousin, is to blame for the tragedy, since he killed Romeo's best friend, Mercutio, which enraged Romeo and led to him murdering Tybalt. Romeo’s punishment for his actions was banishment and this upset Juliet to the point that she and Friar Lawrence hatched a plan that backfired, and eventually led to Romeo and Juliet committing suicide. However, if it wasn't for their fathers …show more content…
teaching their children to hate each other, this could have been avoided.
Lord Montague could have come forward to prevent the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet.
He did not make an attempt to resolve the issues between Montagues and Capulets. For instance, he never spoke to Lord Capulet about the danger of their children's feud. When Benvolio and other Montagues saw Tybalt and the Capulets, they bit their thumb at them and started a brawl. Montague should have told Benvolio not to do such things to prevent future brawls. After Romeo and Juliet died, he felt sorry and praised Juliet. He said, "For I will raise her statue in pure gold." "There shall no figure at such rate be set as that of true and faithful Juliet."
Lord Capulet could have put forth more effort to stop the danger of their feud. He, just like Lord Montague did nothing to stop their dangerous feud. Capulet did not attempt to better the relationship between Tybalt and Romeo, and he forced Juliet to marry Paris when she was in love with Romeo. Capulet said that the hate between Montagues and Capulets caused the two lovers to take their lives. After their deaths he said, "As rich shall Romeo's by his lady's lie, poor sacrifices of our enmity."
With that being said, it is clear that Lord Montague and Lord Capulet caused the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Their deaths did not have to happen, because their fathers could have erased the enmity between Capulets and Montagues. When they finally attempted to end the feud, 4 people had
died.
