Rough Draft Reflection
When I received my test , I would run fast through the pages like a lightning bolt and go all the way towards the end of the booklet to see what the prompts for the essay were. I was one of those students who would always raise their hands for extra paper so that I could write a rough draft first and then write my story on the dark black lines of the final draft paper. As cliche as it sounds, I wanted my paper to be –PERFECT. The writing TAKS was one of my strengths and it boosted my confidence on my ability to write and gave me a chance to improve on my writing

I have learned that revising your writing makes it way better than before. You find your mistakes and realize you can replace words such as “bring to” to a different high vocabulary word such as “cease”. I know now that there is no way to make your paper perfect. There will always be a word, words, or sentence you could change. In addition, I’ve gained a better understanding on passive and active sentences. Once I was done writing my paper, and began to reread it I found some passive sentences. All I did was revise the sentence which helped my writing flow better. Initially, I read the first paper I wrote for the Quarter 1 Writing Assessment and I noticed that I didn’t follow the directions completely. As I read on, there were many simple sentences and not many transitional words.…

Another blow to character education was the postmodern thinking. Postmodern theory is based on the idea that reality is not reflected in human understanding. Reality is constructed as the person tries to interpret their own reality, (Aylesworth, 2012). According to Wilhelm and Firmin, the “backlash of postmodernism asserts that Christian virtue and absolute truth cannot be held as exclusive morality,” (Welhelm & Welhelm, 2008, p.190). Teachers became concerned with forcing any absolutes or morality. In the absence of absolutes or morality…

My writing style in high school was formal and followed a strict template for writing research papers and all other written assignments. Many of my teachers then left no wiggle room for creative detail nor allowed us to use “I” in any of our papers. They gave my peers and I such highly specific prompts that each of our body paragraphs was almost identical. As a result to the specific prompts, I would typically score 87-95 percent…
