Rrotc Leadership Self Analysis

The leadership roles I have had the opportunity of serving in developed me into the leader I am today. After Matriculation I was a timid and indecisive leader. I questioned all my decisions and found it difficult to trust others. I looked for opportunities to blend in and not challenge myself as a leader. When I joined ROTC I still had some of the same reservations in my leadership abilities. I quickly became more decisive and confident once I was acclimated to the AFROTC culture and understood what was expected of me at Field Training. Once I graduated Field Training, I regained my confidence and decision making abilities. This, however, morphed into arrogance because I plateaued in developing myself as a leader. I took the time since then
to evaluate where I needed to improve- professional relationships and tact- and set these as goals to improve on. This semester I have improved my professional relationships with those in AFROTC and developed significantly more tact since Field Training.

4. My previous Tactical Officer, Colonel Dudley, has made the most significant impact on my development as a leader. Colonel Dudley is a retired Air Force instructor pilot, so he was able to offer advice and guidance in reference to the Corps and the Air Force. He took every situation as an opportunity to learn and develop. Whenever I would get frustrated or overwhelmed he would remind me that I was in a training environment and this is the time to make mistakes. Colonel Dudley set the example for tact and professional relationships
