Lessons In National Honor Society
Amongst the organizations for students here at Yazoo County High School , National Honor Society is one of the most prestigious. National Honor Society values scholarship, service, leadership, and character. I am honored to be recognized and suggested as a member. Considering I display all four those attributes, I would be a great addition to the organization.

First of all, I display excellent leadership skills. For example, in JROTC I am the 1st Sergeant and it isn't a rank that just anyone could get. I am responsible for correcting uniform violations, the accountability for all cadets in Alpha company , as well as taking control of the company in the absence of all officers. Being the 1st Sergeant takes a lot of discipline and attention to the job because if something goes left it all falls on me. I also served as Beta Club secretary 8th grade year and co-secretary my 9th and 10th grade years. As secretary, it was my duty to ensure that meetings are organized, recorded and minuted. Notes from past meetings had to be handled properly and decisions made during those meetings had to be recorded and presented to the everyone. One of the lessons that is taught in JROTC is to lead , you first must serve others.

I have also volunteered at the Manna House and help serve the needy on Thanksgiving Day.For the past three years I have also volunteered in Revive Yazoo, the city wide revival. In my 9th & 10th grade year I helped with the setup of the equipment and seating area and also assisted with sound system. This past summer , I volunteered in the youth choir and performed in the teen night with other kids from other churches in the

National Honor Society continues to shape me into an independent, self-sufficient young adult. The four pillars play an important role in my life no matter where I am. For example, whether I’m at work, in school, or on the basketball court, scholarship, service, leadership, and character transform me into a compassionate leader. Furthermore, National Honor Society will also continue to lead me through the rest of my life. As I head off to college, I will always have the traditional values of the four pillars to lean on. While studying in the field of nursing, I can take what I learned and apply it to my everyday life, even when helping others. Hopefully if I am successful, my leadership will rub off on others, transforming their lives as I…

Since its establishment, the National Honor Society has been built upon the core values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Throughout the years, National Honor Society has upheld these pillars, and its outstanding club members strive to embody these values in every aspect of their lives. However, these four principles add up to become something much more over the course of National Honor Society’s lifetime -- its legacy. These four honorable tenets are what constitutes a legacy, and I wish to become an individual who represents all of these core values -- and more. I genuinely believe that I exemplify most of the qualities that National Honor Society values, and though I am aware that I am still lacking in some, I will work…

National Honor Society membership is among the highest honors a high school student can achieve, and I am deeply honored to have been considered as a future chapter participant. The program stands for more than academic achievement; scholarship, service, leadership, and character must hold equal weight in the foundation of an Honor Society member. I am confident that my abilities and merit embrace the standards of such a student. I have continually strived for academic excellence with the knowledge that I will only benefit from upholding a strict expectation of myself; moreover, I carry the same attitude towards my animal breeding and showing programs. Since the start of ninth grade, I have maintained college readiness and honor roll with my continued determination to accept nothing less than an ‘A.’ With this drive, I was able to combat my shortcomings from Summer Bridge and climb to my current placing at the top of my class with a 4.26 GPA.…

Whether it be helping with school decorations, planting trees in the garden, or cleaning up garbage, doing service allows me to both aid my community and to know exactly how I am aiding it. It is for this reason that I enjoy community service. Often, I will sign up to help with small, individual community events. For example, a few weeks ago, I allocated six hours to help set up and operate various activities at the River Hill Community Health Fair. I am also a member of the American Red Cross, and frequently help blood donors at the Columbia Red Cross Blood Donor Center. Whether it be helping the community learn more about health, or helping facilitate blood donations to the needy, I know exactly how I help in community…

The four pillars of the National Honors Society are leadership, scholarship, character, and service. To me, leadership means taking responsibility for yourself while also taking responsibility for others. Being put into a position where others look to you to make decisions and to advise them is also an example of leadership. There are small ways to represent leadership, such as taking control of a group project, as well as large ways like being the president of a club. Scholarship means learning to the best of one's abilities and putting school before anything else. This includes staying up late if necessary to finish homework, and studying for every test so a good grade is guaranteed. Character means overall being a good person: making good choices, staying true to one’s morals, and treating others with respect. Finally, service means…

I believe I am a great leader because I am the second oldest of seven siblings, of whom I have to take charge of frequently, and because I was a DECA officer in the 2016-2017 year, helping whenever I could at events such as the role play nights or running the store during a game. Just this semester I was the leader of the DECA store twice, working for about 4-5 hours total this semester and about 6-8 last semester. Each time I worked, the games had a very large attendance, making the store extremely hectic yet efficient.…
