I am emailing you in regards to the email I received about my eligibility to take the TEAS, and apply for the nursing program. I am a very proactive student when it comes to my education, therefore I use my campus resources often to help me better obtain my goals. My grades, professors, tutors, and peers can contest to my determination and hard work.
I often see my advisor throughout the semester/year to recalibrate my academic goals and revise my plan, if need be. During my meetings with my advisor we frequently talked about my hopes of becoming a nurse, and what I need to do to gain admission into the nursing program at Malcolm X.
In the course of our one meeting I was told by my advisor that I could take the TEAS exam twice within each enrollment period. Therefore, in the spring of 2017 I took the TEAS test twice in hopes of reaching the needed 65%, unfortunately I fell short by two points—receiving a 63.3%. I did not fret though because I was told I could take it again next time enrollment began. Which I am now finding out is incorrect information, leaving me in a situation that I wouldn't be in if I was advised correctly.

applied again for the nursing program for the Spring of 2018. The first part of the application was made available October 1, 2017 I then applied that week. It then wasn’t until October 18, 2017 that I was contacted enlightening me that my High School transcripts were needed. I had originally checked off saying registrar had my transcripts because they were given upon my initial acceptance to the college in 2015. But I went ahead and contacted my High School and had my transcripts given to registrar the following day, October 19, 2017.
In addition, to the ill advising, I am also being inadequately considered to join the program.
Although as a student I am doing my part the people who are suppose to help, guide, and mentor me are not reciprocating that same privilege to me. On November 3, 2017 I received an email informing me that I may take the TEAS exam, and most do so by December 1, 2017. I quickly took action and went to register for the next available dates (before the deadline) which are November 10 and 17, 2017. Again, I bought two testing dates because I was told I could take it twice within the new enrollment period. But now on November 7, 2017, three days before the exam date I am being emailed saying I may not be permitted again to take the TEAS for a third time, it will be upon the desecration of the
committee.
As a student of City Colleges of Chicago I am highly dissatisfied with the leadership of the faculty that I depended on to help me achieve my dreams. This situation is unjust, I am being hindered because of negligence of the administration. Ultimately I am being put at a disadvantage because I was given incorrect information and the administrations inability to thoroughly look over my files. Consequently I am being restricted to move forward with my academic goals/career dreams. As a result of this situation, I am hoping we could resolve the situation, allowing me into the program and clarify my ability to succeed in this program. I'd happily sit down with members of the nursing committee to speak about what I can bring to the program and what acceptance to the nursing program would mean to me, as well as letters of recommendations from my former teachers, professors, and current employer.
