The Sandlot Just a couple of friends playing a game they love with people they enjoy being around and a big demon dog trying to stop them, or so it seems. The Sandlot, a film about baseball released in the early 90’s, consisted of Benny Rodriguez, , “Benny the Jet” , Tommy Timmons as “repeat”, Scott as “smalls”, Hamilton as “ham”, Michael as “squints”, Alan as “yeah yeah”. Kenny Denunez, and Bertram Grover. Also “The Beast” which is the gargantuan dog. Throughout the movie, these group of friends use many different forms of communication, to get around different problems they encounter, and I’ll be explaining just a few big ones in the movie. Benny is the oldest and most talented of the group, and as the oldest he is considered the leader and he does good job leading his group of friends. The newest member, Smalls, is new to town and becomes friends with Benny. Benny needs a new teammate and took the role of a task oriented leader to help out the team. Smalls was nervous, he didn’t know how to make friends and he didn’t know how to play baseball to well. Benny also used his maintenance oriented skills for open communication and helped Smalls gain his confidence through Benny’s amazing talent and through having fun with baseball. At first the group didn’t like him because he wasn’t too good and was goofy, but because Benny gave him a chance, and Smalls succeeded afterwards(thanks to the help of Bennys amazing aim) the group warmed up to him. Benny is a leader, a natural one, because he not only helps and participates with the group but he is head honcho and he leads them into games. He encourages everyone and takes everyone’s criticism and ideas in consideration. Although there is a lot of backtalk between the teammates, they know their limits. Everyone has their strong suits and Benny knows it, so he believes his team is well rounded. When the group wants to do something Benny goes along with it, for example, usually they play
