Satire In George Orwell's Poem Comrade Napoleon

A satire is defined as the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize stupidity or vices of an individual or group, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues. I believe that the poem ‘Comrade Napoleon!’, is a satirical attack against patriotic songs and anthems for several reasons. In consideration to what Napoleon has in plan for Animal Farm and the situation on the farm, the poem in its entirety is ironic and exposes the foolishness of the animals. Napoleon is described as ‘friend of fatherless’ and ‘fountain of happiness’; this already reveals the foolishness of the animals, seeing as they are being pushed toward adoring Napoleon while he is doing nothing other than trying to gain control. Also, the animals, excluding the pigs, are forced into short and laborious lives and most of the animal population is engulfed in hunger, misery, and exhaustion.
A swill bucket refers to trash, leftovers from the kitchen, and hogwash or rubbish - food perfectly fit for a pig. In effect, Minimus is stating that Napoleon is the lord of garbage or rubbish, which in this case is true due to Napoleon’s corruption and cruelty, even though it may not be the meaning implied by Minimus. At this point, the situation at the farm opposes everything Old Major had in mind. Napoleon's accomplices, such as the dogs, are the only animals that have gained any benefit whatsoever, from this new 'system' that Napoleon has
