These foods must taste better, right? According to an article on the Huffington post, other countries have better school lunches offering much better tasting however much more healthier foods than ours. In Brazil for example, the average school lunch consists of pork with mixed veggies, black beans and rice, salad, bread and baked plantains. In Italy, the average lunch consists of local fish on a bed of arugula, pasta with tomato sauce, caprese salad, baguette and some grapes. All these foods look very appetizing compared to the school lunches served in the U.S. There are plenty of more countries to list, however they all would have the same purpose to prove that there are healthy foods that taste good that can be served in …show more content…
As I have stated, the government spends approximately eleven billion dollars on schools across the country solely for the lunch program. Schools get only a portion of that money and can only buy certain amounts of healthy, yet cheap foods, Which is one of the reasons why school food tastes bad. However there are plenty of ways to avoid this problem by saving money and moving the money spent on less necessary concerns, such as new sports equipment. I believe that the school’s money should mostly be spent on food because of how important it is. Some students could be homeless or very poor, eating unbearable school lunches. The best schools could give them is free high quality food. Every other need from schools can be met with fundraisers and community
