The country we live in has experienced many issues with freedom. Many people weren’t given it because they were different. Remember segregation between the blacks and whites; Japanese in pearl harbor; separations between women and men, many more. A big one that still is happening till this day is segregation for Transgenders. Like any other group in society, we have promised to give them freedom and peace; but like any other group that was new to the eye, society always found a way to limit it. If you were a male and you found a transgender man in the bathroom. You as a male would feel unsafe because a man who appears woman is violating your privacy. But would you feel that way if a transgender woman (who appeared masculine and identified as male) came in? Same scenario if a transgender woman came into a women’s bathroom. The woman wouldn’t accept a woman looking like a man entering the bathroom, but if a man who appeared female, then ok. This is because since transgenders are changing their appearance, they will have to share common experiences like the non transgenders do , creating no intimidation between the non transgenders and the transgenders in the bathroom. According to “The Case Against Fully Shifting to Gender Neutral Bathrooms” the author believes as well. They said “Many cisgender students will feel discomfort from being forced to use the restrooms with the opposite sex.” This helps my point of allowing transgenders to use the bathrooms they identify as completely. No one will feel comfortable to spot members of the opposite sex in the same bathroom they're in. It’s very dangerous and very awkward. Would you feel ok with a bunch of non transgender men coming into the female bathroom you're currently in or would you feel comfortable with a bunch of men who have transitioned to the opposite sex coming in ? On that note I don’t recall men bathrooms and women bathrooms being the same. Last time I checked, they all had their own specific traits that defined what gender bathroom they were.
