a) Analysis of Warm-Ups
Lead several warm-ups and analyze what went well or what didn’t? How receptive were the students? Were the students ready for the main activity? Why or why not? If you were not able to lead a warm-up, reflect on what you saw, or didn’t see.
I lead several warm ups while observing at Edward Bleeker Junior High School and I think that it was a great learning experience. I learned and improved from my first warm up that I lead. The first time I lead the warm up I wasn’t that confident so the students kind of took their time to complete each task and they didn’t take me as seriously. They weren’t that willing to accept the new warm up that I was leading, so my host teacher had to stop

Having this experience observing in both the middle school and high school level made me realize how lucky I was to get my education at SUNY Cortland. Being a Cortland student has taught me a lot about quality physical education, which Mr. Levinson pointed out to me. He did not graduate from SUNY Cortland and he was not fully educated on what a quality physical education class looked like. Cortland has taught me that the end goal of physical education is to prepare students for lifelong activities that they can do after they graduate. After my experience at the high school level I realized that John Bowne’s physical education program didn’t prepare the students for life long utilization skills. Most of the physical education classes still consisted of team sports such as basketball and baseball. From what I learned at SUNY Cortland students should learn team sports at the middle school level. Cortland has also taught me that a lesson should consist of a instant activities, visual aids, demonstrations, checking for understanding, etc. At the John Bowne I didn’t see Mr. Levinson include any of these topics found in the C-9 in any of his lessons. Using instant activities, visual aids, demonstrations, and checking for understanding would have helped the students grow more during each unit at John Bowne. At

On the self-assessment inventory, I scored between 76 and 88 out of 100 on each key competency except for the Change and Across Cultures competencies. My scores were within the numerical range for 68% of managerial professionals that completed this self-evaluation. For the most part, I see myself as very good on a number of the skills such as balancing my personal and work life, embracing uniqueness, supporting the goals of a team, and making ethical business decisions. For the Across Cultures competency, I am lacking in global experience and the skills to recognize the differences of various cultures and customs. In addition, I need to improve on recognizing, leading, and implementing adaptations when needed by teams and organizations.…

I have always found it interesting how everyone can have a different learning style. It does not mean that one person is smarter than the other, and vice versa. Everyone is completely different with how they intake information and their learning skills. My best learning skill is Kinesthetic I am more a “hands on” learner. I have always been more successful and learned better once I actually did something hands on. I can learn verbally, and visual as well but that is my best learning technique.…

Physical educational professionals should be demonstrating and a model of what they teach. Physical educators should value wellness and fitness and continue to do so throughout their respected careers. One professor suggests that the lack of skill and in depth activity content knowledge is a major problem in (PETE) programs and for the future of the physical education profession. There are two major factors that can be credited to this dilemma. The first factor is being an increase emphasis in major curriculums on classroom oriented theory and models at the expense of quality activity and the second factor is the lack of both tactile expertise and skills in many teachers. There is a wide variety of areas that physical educators should have knowledge of which includes the fundamental motor skills, individual and dual activities, team sports, aquatics, gymnastics, and educational dance. These skills are an essential part of the preparation of a physical educator. Every student that is studying to be a physical educator should be able to walk the walk not just talk the talk in other words be a role model for their students.…

The first approach that I noticed in the lessons was that the teacher was always present before the class and that the pupils waited outside until invited in by the teacher. Also, the teacher did not start the lesson until all the pupils were quiet. I thought that these were very good techniques as it establishes a sensible tone conducive to learning at the start of the lesson. Something I think would be difficult to establish at any other point.…

I feel that I am a strong willed and I can get anything done that I set my mind to do. I have planned a certain time each day to study and do homework to keep from getting behind. I will seek help from my professor, counsler, and online resources as I need to become successful at Ashford.
