Ruby's Self Regulation
Ruby doesn’t strive for perfection, she strives for her best. One out of five times ruby will have perfection; four out of five times ruby will have her best. Mark Victor Hansen says “Don't wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what, get started now with each step you take you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self confident, and more and more successful.” Ruby is inspired by this quote because, it says nothing is perfect and there will always be challenges, but if she keeps trying she will grow stronger, and more skilled and become successful. One of her self motivating thoughts is proving that she can succeed to those who say she will fail. She chooses and controls her schedule very carefully, and finds the appropriate times to study, which is one of her methods of learning. Through motivation, use of time, and methods of learning; Ruby takes control of her own learning and proves to be a highly self regulated learner.
Staying and maintaining a positive outlook on any complications is what motivates Ruby the most. Motivation is what keeps her going. Thinking about her future, and focusing on what she will obtain at the end of her goal is what makes her strive to be successful. She wants to accomplish so much in the little time she has. Steve Jobs said something along the lines of; people's time being limited so not to waste it living other peoples lives. She doesn’t live others peoples lives, but is motivated from hearing what others have a accomplished. She even keeps visual reminders of her progress since middle school. Knowing that her parents came to this country and became successful without the opportunities she has today, keeps her in school, studying to be as successful as her parents.
