A 50-mL buret, a 250-mL volumetric flask, and 25- and 50-mL pipets were obtained from stockroom. The 0.5 g of calcium carbonate was weighted in a small 50-mL beaker. Approximately 0.4 g of the carbonate was transferred to a 250-mL beaker. 25 mL of distilled water was poured to the large beaker and 40 drops of 6 M HCl were added. Then, solution was heated until it just begins to boil. After boiling 50 mL of distilled water was added to the beaker. The flask was stoppered and mixed thoroughly by inverting the flask. The buret was filled with the EDTA solution. The blank was prepared by adding 25 mL distilled water, 5 mL of the pH 10 buffer to a 250-mL Erlenmeyer flask. Small amount of solid Eriochrome Black T indicator was added. EDTA was added to the solution until the last tinge of purple just disappears. Three 25-mL portions of the Ca2 + solution were drawn separately into clean 250-mL Erlenmeyer flasks. To each flask add 5 mL of the pH 10 buffer, a small amount of indicator, and 15 drops of 0.03 M MgCl2 were added. The solution was titrated in one of the flasks until its color matches that of your reference solution.…

Our results seemed to largely agree with the established solubility rules/table; however, a few reactions with the commonality of being mixed with Co(NO3)2 (cobalt nitrate) [reference Row A, Columns 2, 3, and 4] seemed to have such a pale pink tone that it was difficult to decide whether that could have been a precipitate or the lighting in the area where the experiment took place. Ultimately, our lab group came to the decision that no reaction occurred.…

The concept of fate is a course of inevitable, predetermined events with a set outcome. Fate is inescapable and is usually thought to be determined by a higher power such as a divine entity. There is also the concept of interfering with fate and choose another path, however this concept is paradoxical, as the final outcome may ironically be the “real” predetermined result. Fate also gets used interchangeably with destiny. The two concepts are very similar and the final verdict of inevitability is present for both. “Choosing” ones destiny is a false concept for the same reason as intervening fate. Fate has been used as a theme in many literatures and beliefs including the Greek tragedy Oedipus Rex, Theseus and the Minotaur, and the early American concept of Manifest Destiny.…

Abstract This article introduces an iterative constraint solver for rigid body dynamics with contact. Our algorithm requires linear time and space and is easily expressed in vector form for fast execution on vector processors. The use of an iterative algorithm opens up the possibility for exploiting temporal coherence. A method for caching contact forces is presented that allows contact points to move from step to step and to appear and disappear. Examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the algorithm.…
