On Thursday 27.Oct,2016 We had an event about "Cochlear Implant.” As a beginning we watched a short documentary about a girl from deaf culture, her parents were also deaf and they didn’t use any aids to help them to hear, except, sign language; they were against any technology to help them. They kept saying to her “this who we are,” unlike them, she couldn't adapt. Then, she heard about cochlear implant, and she wanted to do it, but her father felt that his heart is broken, also he felt that she is very embarrassing for being deaf person. After a while, he started to accept the whole idea because she wants to do it badly. After that, they went to Chicago to meet a girl that did a cochlear implant because they want to explore the whole idea before doing the surgery, but unfortunately we did not complete the movie because Dr. Afaf started to give us the first lecture which was about introducing deaf culture who needs hearing aids, and what are the …show more content…
Also, she explained what the meaning of cochlear and how the cochlear implant developed through years. Then, Dr. Mohamed Odeh came and gave us the second lecture which was about the latest technology about cochlear implant, and how they improved. I was amazed about one type of cochlear implant that could be used under the water, so they can swim and hear but this could work
