The same-sex marriage has been a controversial issue for a long time. Same-sex marriage should be legalized because it is a large part of their civil rights. One of our civil liberties is the pursuit of happiness. Homosexual people cannot be married to the person they love and it violates their freedom. Same-sex marriage has always been looked upon as wrong for one reason or another. Everyone has strong opinions towards gay marriage. The point is, it shouldn't be judged so harshly. That's why so many people disagree with the idea of it becoming legal. They see that it's wrong because it says so in the bible. Yes it may be a sin, but everyone sins in various ways. I think that gay marriage should be legal because illegal marriage is a form of discrimination. On the website,"listland.com", they discuss illegal marriage being a form of discrimination and go on to say, "When you prevent same-sex couples from marrying, it sends out the message that discriminating against others because of their sexual orientation is okay."

Of course there are many more reasons people don't believe in gay marriage. They think that in marriage you're supposed to procreate. Although that is sometimes true, there are also couples who are infertile or just decided not to have children and yet we allow them to get married. I used to agree with these people that gay marriage isn't okay, because my parents raised me to think that way. We're catholic so in result to that we should think it's wrong. I would see gay couples and think that it was gross and I was very judgmental towards them. I thought just like the people who are against gay marriage, that they shouldn't be allowed to get married because they can't conceive children of their own and so on. My cousin is gay and somehow my perspective on the subject has changed. My parents opinion and views remain the same. Shouldn't we have the right to be happy?
