Should Government Be Able To Monitor The Internet?

" Should the government be able to monitor the internet? I feel very strong about this topic. The local, federal, and state government shouldn’t be allowed to keep tabs on everyone using the internet. Bullying is a good reason that monitoring should be allowed, but my overall opinion is still strong in no. The government shouldn’t be able to invade our privacy if we haven’t done anything to make them suspect anything. In certain cases, I am ok with monitoring. If you are using a school computer, then they should be allowed to monitor and keep tabs on their own property. Same goes for any public place letting you use their electronics, but when it comes to your own personal belongings then they have no right. If you are a criminal and are put on probation or house arrest after being released, then that a reasonable reason to monitor their computers and internet usage. For those who just sit at home and talk to friends and family or post funny things to their timelines or even just share stuff for the heck of it they shouldn’t have to monitored unless they have done something bad or suspicious.
An argument that is used over and over is “what if a child or teen is being bullied and no one knows.” Well what I have to say about that is if they are having troubles online then they need to get help or tell someone. It is very simple to delete accounts or even make a new one. If you are getting severely getting bullied and you are not asking for help or telling anyone then you need to know that it is your own fault. Kids these days will even “bully” their friends in a joking manor and they aren’t being serious, but how would the government know what the kids are thinking. I feel very strong about bullying and cyber-bullying, but unless the government reads a kid’s messages how will they know. Some kids don’t post mean things, but they message the
