Should licenses be taken away from old people? Have you ever been on the road driving and a fellow driver all of a sudden merges with no blinker or crosses over the line or does some crazy thing that puts you at danger or someone else. How many times do you look over to see the person and its someone old and incompetent? This brings me to my question should old peoples license be revoked? The first point in making my case is old people at driving intersections. A study was taken by the journal of traffic Injury prevention, stating that one half of car fatalities involved drivers of 85 and older. The study also stated drives between ages 70-79 were involved due to their misjudged if it was safe to go or not. People of ages 80 or older didn’t see the car or danger. We see that old people driving is not only dangerous for them but the people driving too. Due to their misjudgment and incompetent selves we still let them drive. Shouldn’t there be a test for people of certain ages to do in order to check if it safe for them to drive? Old people driving is a risk for everyone and precautions need to be taken. Old people need a way to get around especially when their other family works or lives in state. They have doctors’ appointments, have to get groceries or do basic errands. Plus trying to make an old person give up their license is like ripping their freedom from them. Old people don’t realize their hazard. Plus, old people with grandchildren want to drive them and that’s how they transport them. There is also many competent and alert old people. They drive fine, but many don’t.
