The American president should not receive compensation after he leaves office. He received more than enough compensation while in office, and he is no longer of use to the united states, why should the united states pay someone to do a job they don’t do anymore? They shouldn’t! However there are some forms of presidential compensation that should be allowed to stay, the president should be allowed to keep his secret service protection, the president should be allowed to speak at universities and conferences and be paid that way, the president should be allowed to keep his free postage and things of that nature. The president receives an annual salary of $400,000 dollars per year while in office, (Costa, Kim) therefore, with proper budgeting, they should not need more compensation after leaving office, especially considering that while in office they are required to pay for absolutely nothing. I believe that even though James has shown us some light, Cooper is more realistic. Our president, Donald Trump, has made us so many promises with the limited time he has. It gets you wondering just how many of those promises will he follow through, if any. Trump promised to take care of all of his citizens and will make sure to help us all. Cooper states, “ Trump's budget — copy-pasted from the ultraconservative Heritage Foundation — promises incomprehensible amounts of austerity, so that stinking rich people like Donald Trump might pay less in taxes”. This is the complete opposite of what he said he would do, already breaking one of his many promises. Another promise Trump made was when he said he’ll make an amazing insurance after getting rid of Obamacare. Ryan says, “Congressional Republicans are preparing to repeal ObamaCare, and have no plans whatsoever to replace it with anything even halfway decent. On the contrary, the Heritage budget includes additional savage cuts to Medicare (41 percent) and Medicaid (47 percent) over the next decade. If passed, tens or perhaps hundreds of thousands of people will be killed due to lack of insurance.…

$19.3 trillion dollars. That’s the national debt. And before I even say this number out loud it will probably have risen hundreds of thousands of dollars. Maybe even millions. The U.S has about $66 trillion dollars in overall debt and even for the most powerful country that’s got to knock you down a notch. Indeed the next President has an abundance of problems to solve, but to even think about solving them he has to find money, which with -$66 trillion dollars on his belt is about as easy a trying to escape a house of mirrors. At some point people have to start wondering “ How did we get here?”.…

Should student athletes get paid? This question has long been debated for quite some time in various institutions and organizations. With the upcoming focus on the NCAA, especially in our own division of the Big East, the question on how players should be compensated is brought up. It is no secret that student athletes are compensated in various ways, whether it is through scholarships or complimentary housing, but questions of paying the student athletes a surplus in addition to tuition costs has been raised. This idea seems appealing to private universities with generous funding because it allows them to attract the top players to their school. I believe that student athletes should not be paid any additional money than that which covers their tuition costs.…
