Should Racism Or Discrimination Be Seen As Different?
If after all we are the same and honestly we all end up as just bones, then why does racism or discrimination still pose huge problems? If we really think we are all equal then why is there still tension? Why do people get bullied? Why are people seen as different? I believe the thing that’s wrong is people don’t have enough information and they don’t want to see change. As August Strindberg has said “There are poisons that blind you, and poisons that open your eyes.” I believe this means there are things that make us humans assume things and some things we are so used to we don’t view it as wrong anymore; it takes discrimination to be bold to be seen as wrong in this society because of how people view things. People have to choose what …show more content…
It isn’t okay to see others let other people downgrade others. For example, it’s not okay to see people treat others differently because of appearance. If you wouldn’t call your mom ugly for wearing something or for being a certain shade of flesh, then why should it be okay to do that to others? Another example is in several movies or VCR tapes you see about racism issues you see the KKK symbol being used to threaten other. Bullying is certainly not okay but threatening through symbols or talking about the past in a way to make someone uncomfortable is something honestly terrible. Stuff like that has cause great loss since long before the swastika struck fear in people during the nazis era of rein chaos. You still hear people call people words like “nigger” in an offensive term and talk about what would have happen to them before all around you in the open. If you see someone talking about race in a discriminating way point out stuff like this because may make them realize their words don’t go along with law and if they are treating someone disrespectful to a point of harm or extreme hurt you most definitely should report that to someone of authority around you. The biggest way to combat racism and any type of discrimination is to not let others become victims or one group become more inferior then the

Prejudice in its negative uses can cause multiple types of harm to an individual. It can affect how other’s see them, how they act towards others, and what they are given the chance to do. Prejudice is complicated in the fact that it is difficult for people “to dismiss their existing categorical beliefs” about certain races, sexes, intelligence level, etc. (Cherry 1). Once a group or individual is placed in its stereotype, people cannot seem to believe anything else. Feelings of prejudice are constant; they will likely not…

How would you like to be called names because of your cultural, beliefs, tradition or even colour? Well this is happening everywhere every day. Racism is one of the world’s MAJOR issues TODAY. A number of people are unaware of how much racism endures in our society today. Racism can be seen in incidents of racist abuse, harassment and discrimination, racism is also manifested indirectly, in the form of prejudiced attitudes and lack of recognition of cultural diversity. Racism is the discrimination of a person because of the race that they have inherited. Racism can be said to anyone. It is really serious that these things change, but these past few years, many people in all countries have been saying mean and rude things about one another’s tradition. RACISM IS BULLYING! People think its cool or fun to tease a person because of their colour, their accent, culture and sometimes even how they are not good in something, this is all racism. There are many different types of racism, for example racism because of skin colour, birth place, religion e.c.t but they all got a couple of things in common. All kinds of racism are despicable and create a negative and sometimes dangerous emotional response.…

Countless individuals who pursue racial equality “consider themselves enlightened, who intellectually believe in racial equality, who deplore discrimination, yet who harbor unconscious attitudes that result in discriminatory policies and behavior” (Kristof, 1). Those who declare they support racial equality wholeheartedly occasionally do not uphold their beliefs, deeming them hypocrites. In a realistic situation, an ‘enlightened’ person may judge a tall, black man sporting a biker jacket, baggy jeans, a gold chain necklace, and tattoos scaling up his arms, labeling him as a “thug” or “gangster”. Because these ‘enlightened’ people are absent-mindedly being racist, others are most likely doing precisely the same thing, which continues the use of racism. Because they are examples in society, these ‘enlightened’ individuals should be wary of their gestures and dialogue they express towards others to curtail the racism found in…

Therefore, we are basing our opinions of others off something as simple as a color. A shade. And why? People become what others teach them. If one generation is racist, this results in the next generation following in their footsteps, creating a world full of racist attitudes.…

As children, we were taught to treat others as we wished to be treated. We were taught to love and value one another, we were taught morals. However, as time passed, a growing hatred consumed us. We as a nation lost our empathy amongst each other and began to dehumanize our own neighbors. We as a whole began to discriminate on the basis of skin color, religion, and race. Racism is an injustice act that has been around for centuries, affecting millions of people all throughout the world, and can still be found in present day. Although I believe this to be true, there is a growing opposition that believes that racism is not an injustice but rather the reality of life. Racism is instilled in people through various influences and as a result, they have shaped…

Racism, what is it? Racism is discrimination against someone because they seem different. I consider it absolutely inadmissible to be racist to somebody. Why do I think that would be objectionable? I will answer that in a concise manner, what would Jesus do? In John 4:4-42, Jesus talked with a Samaritan woman and requested her to give him a drink. Jesus, a Jew, in society's view, should not have even come close to her. Why, because Jews thought Samaritans lived in a constant feeling of hate toward each other. He did not care about what color of skin a person had, or acts that a person committed. He just cared about their heart. How has racism changed over time, is reverse racism good or bad, is it different in different cultures? These three…

Nowadays, we live in such a multicultural society, that one would hardly believe that words such as discrimination and racism still exist. They are so deeply-rooted in our community that they often go unnoticed in our everyday lives. The movie “A Class Divided” shows us how discrimination can hinder the further development of our society. Each one of us should learn how to be more tolerant toward diversity and this process should be two-sided. Why do stereotypes exist and more importantly why do we let them control our lives and comprehension?…

Racism is prejudice, discrimination, or resentment directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior to theirs. Some law enforcement officers do not equally treat people of a minority with the same respect as those of a non-minority (whites). Society has gotten to the point where people think it doesn’t matter what they say, that they think their comments and hate don’t affect other people. Humans are often hurtful towards each other, but I believe we all were born with the innate of compassion and love. These days, I see parents showing their kids what to think instead of how to think. I see people not being able to marry someone they love because they are the same gender, even though it is acceptable to marry someone then divorce the next day. People say gays aren’t socially acceptable, but the thing is, slavery was once the norm. I hear and see this type of thing everyday; people being ignorant and neglecting the notion that all humans are equal. I wish I didn’t see bias and prejudice, young and old, ignoring the fact that we’re the same. Humans aren’t born racist, homophobic or sexist. We were born equal. So why is it everyone is bent on believing that one life is less important than another?…
