Let’s, for a moment, try to imagine a completely benevolent government, who wants to censor it’s citizens internet access. Maybe things like how to make a bomb, or a website where you can buy illegal goods. Everyone will be happy with such a government, whose only intentions are to shelter the people it governs from content that it is dangerous, harmful or inappropriate, and not to spread propaganda by controlling information. However unlikely it is for such a government to exist is it practical for it to censor the Internet? The answer still is ‘No’, because censoring the Internet is simply impossible.

Some are not even aware of the criminal nature of this act. Everyday, hundreds of people download music, games and movies illegally, the government knows it, and the producers know it. So the produces solve this problem by making the prices of these commodities exceedingly high, to make up for the losses caused by these. So in-fact, the people who buy these good legally end up paying a huge price for them. This encourages more people to break the law. Raising the prices even higher. The cycle goes on endlessly, while only the law-abiders are punished, and the criminals rewarded. So it does seem logical to block these websites, which provide avenue for these criminal deeds. But then, as I explained earlier blocking any website is simply not possible. It would be possible to block direct-downloads, or P2P downloads, but that would mean you won’t be able to download anything. The issue is indeed complex, and requires drastic changes in the entertainment industry for a lasting solution. Maybe implementing some kind of one-time Internet tax to use everything on the Internet. The most reliable solution I found was to go back to plain old school analogue product, by not making any e-copy, the change of piracy is eliminated, but then again your market is reduced too. Alternatively the manufacturers can reduce the price, and trust …show more content…
It serves no purpose other than creating a false sense of security among the people. Many governments often start-off censoring Internet for justifiable reason, but that escalates quickly into oppressive governments blocking access to information, and only allowing residents of a nation to see, read, or watch what they permit. Other than that there are no perceivable benefits of censorship. Although, the Internet isn’t perfect, it’s the same freedom and mobility which Internet gives its users the main aspect of it’s appeal. In our democratic society we highly value this freedom or right to
