Should We Colonize Mars
“Exploring and colonizing Mars can bring us new scientific understanding of climate change, of how planet-wide processes can make a warm and wet world into a barren landscape. By exploring and understanding Mars, we may gain key insights into the past and future of our own world,” By Buzz Aldrin. We should colonize Mars because it is a place that we could better adapt to and that we are vastly over populating our planet. Changing Mars’ climate is something that humans should accomplish if we are going to efficiently colonize Mars correctly. As said before, first we should make Mars warmer, and second we should make their atmosphere more thicker than it is now. In addition, Since the atmosphere is so thin the heat from the sun can easily escape during the night time, we want to make it thicker so it can stay warmer during the night and day. Moreover, scientists think that we …show more content…
First of all it would be easy traveling to, and second if Mars has good resources we can easily take them and transport them to Earth for further research. For instance, we could discover things like life, and even plants, and then they can transport new valuable resources, and we could identify them. At some point in the future we are going to have a time where we can visit Mars where it is close enough to Earth, but now is not the right time to figure out an efficient way to get there. The time that it would take to get to Mars wouldn't be all that bad. It is one of the closest planets that would be fit for us humans. In conclusion those were reasons that we should colonize Mars because of its great location and because of Earths horrendous population. Going back to the quote by Buzz Aldrin he specifically said that how beneficial it would be to know the new scientific understanding of climate changes for later changes to Earth. In summary, it would be history if we could accomplish colonizing

    There are two paths in which we could take, one being, of course, the stereotypical view of a colony on Mars or the Moon, but on the other hand, it is feasible to have humans living in orbit with the advent of new technology. There is a general argument to be made for both, for example, colonization on a planet, although extremely expensive, could have that issue overlooked through alternative means. In Kelsey Tollefson’s, author of Asteroid Prospects II: Between a Rock and a Hard Place, own words, “The United States, for one, has set its sights on the Red Planet. NASA’s Journey to Mars initiative hopes to achieve “Earth Independence” by the year 2030. NASA’s estimated budget for 2017 is set at $19 billion, much of which would go towards developing technology capable of sending humans to Mars” (Tollefson). One may wonder why Mars is the center of attention for many researchers, and the answer to that is quite simple. As Edward McCullough, lead scientist for the Boeing Company, mentions, “Mars is a user-friendly world, rife with many industrially useful minerals for construction and manufacturing purposes. It has a suite of ‘ates,’ ‘ites’ and ‘ides’ of common metals with common non metals. The red planet is also wrapped in abundant carbon dioxide which will be fairly easy to condense” (David). I completely concur with Griffin’s opinion as to why many explore space, which he states is human curiosity, a monument to address our accomplishments, and to leave something behind for the future generations.
