Signs Of Railroad Crossing
There are a number of various signs that warn people of railroad crossings. Some of thedifferent types of railroad crossing signs include advance signs, markings on the pavement, andrailroad crossing buck signs. There are other devices such as red flashing lights with bells, and gates that also help to warn you of a railroad crossing and a possible upcoming train. Whenapproaching a railroad crossing you should always slow down even if you can’t see a train coming. If a railroad crossing has red lights that are flashing, you must come to a complete stop and wait until the train passes and the lights aren’t flashing anymore. After the lights stop flashing, then you may proceed. At some railroad crossings there are crossing gates, or barriers,that come down when a train is coming. …show more content…

It is illegal to move around, under, or through these crossing gates.There are certain special vehicles that are required to follow other rules when approaching a railroad crossing. A school bus is one of those special vehicles. A school bus is required by law to completely stop at a railroad crossing even if there isn’t a train coming.Another one of the special vehicles is any truck that is carrying any sort of hazardous material. These trucks must also come to a complete stop at any railroad crossing.
