which is non-biodegradable. For packed lunches, there is a major increase in non-recyclable materials, but the overall weight in theory is twice as better for the environment because it puts less material into landfills to decompose and release gases into the air. Based on the collected data, packed lunches (in this specific case) seems to be more environmentally friendly despite its lack of recyclable materials.
The issue with the collected data is that it is very specific to me, and the lunches that I eat. It is entirely true that people eat different kinds of hot lunch, and each one produces a different amount of waste. The same goes for packed lunches. Due to my available resources, not everything within my packed lunches were environmentally friendly, such as food products that come in plastic packaging. I could have been more mindful of my trash production by using only tupperware to store my food in my packed lunches, but this was not the case. While the data cannot be 100% trusted, I believe that it is insightful data on lunches despite how specific of a case it is used in.
