Persuasive Essay About Open Campus Lunch
Causing students to feel like the are still in elementary school is not a good way to start them towards their college career. The school shows no faith in their students and their ability to leave school for lunch.
It is student's responsibility for what happens to them when they leave school for lunch. Mlive.com states that, “French students have a two-hour lunch break from 11:30am to 1:30pm. During their lunch break they can eat at home or at a restaurant, having several positive aspects about open campus. Clearly, high schoolers that are ages 14 all the way to 18 have the capability to take responsibility for actions they choose to do when they leave for lunch. Likewise, when dealing with athletes, coaches have to trust their players to show up for games and practices, so the school should trust their students to show up to get an education. According to Business Insider, student athletes spend over 40 hours a week practicing or working out. Being an athlete, leaving school and always coming back for games or for practice is not something athletes take advantage of. I believe that high schools should have open lunches. Students should be able to leave the school grounds and go to a fast food restaurant, or, if they choose should at least be able to go outside and eat. Students need to have a small break from school during the day, even if they are outside, they still can take their minds off of school work for a while. Students need to have fresh air and adequate sunlight. Fresh air and sunlight is a proven fact to help students in their studies and it also helps the students concentrate more. I understand that the school staff would not like the fact that the students would be able to leave campus without supervision. Are not the students in high school? Should we not have the responsibility to be able…

“So from eating out, we can also learn how to make wise choices.” This would make students prepared for college by enabling them to leave campus and eat what they want. This independence would get kids ready to face the real world. “It provides a semi-sheltered climate to allow students to grow and become responsible.” This would give teens the privilege of not being watched every second of the day. If students disobeyed the rules of when they should be back, they could take away the privilege or give punishment. Throughout high school students don’t have very many opportunities to show how independent they are any letting them leave for lunch would be a perfect way for teens to show teachers they can be trusted and can survive in the real world.I know a lot of high school students who are very shy and keep to themselves. With the ability to leave school during lunch, kids would become more outgoing because there would be many more chances for them to socialize and interact with the real world. “If students have the privilege of off-campus lunch, they will gain more responsibility and more experience on how the real world works.” All kids have a big part in the future of our job…

Many students push for open campus lunches for seniors or even juniors. With this they feel it is an opportunity to relive some stress and put the school out of their mind for a little while, as they enjoy good food with friends. High school students in particular lack time to socialize, eat lunch, and go about with their busy days. According to NPR, public schools give an average of 15 minutes for students to eat their lunch. Most of this time is used to wait in line for food, once students get their lunch they feel pressured to finish it quickly before the next lunch period enters in to find seats for themselves. With this lack of time, students end up wasting a lot of food, throwing away milk cartons that haven’t been opened, or hot lunches that the individual has barely consumed. Proven by research, students with more time to eat are able to take in more nourishment than students who have less time to eat. With the time, they are able to consume more of their food, reducing food waste and allowing their bodies more time to absorb nutrition from the food. Families across the nation with low income who have struggles providing complete nutritional meals for their children, depending on the school system to provide that for their children. The lunch launching method will allow students to double their eating time by cutting the waiting time in line for lunch. Luckily, I only needed one proposal before my claim was approved. However, it did take quite a while due to thinking and rethinking the claim over in order to be certain that the proposal I wanted was the one which I really cared to presented. My claim, that students should not have an open campus lunch, was challenging to work with while making a visual. I knew how I wanted to display my message, but many times it wasn't giving off the vibe which I was hoping for. Personally, the proposal for me was the easiest part, I knew exactly the argument I wanted to make, and found it easy to put that into words. On the other hand, the visual portion of the essay was the most stressful. Most of my time was spent online trying to find the perfect pictures. Everyone says that the internet has so much stuff on it, just not the ‘stuff’ I needed to form my visual. My essay was backed by mostly facts and statistics. Through research I found it difficult to come up with statistics already on open lunch, so I was forced to be creative with how I pieced my puzzle together.…

School lunches lack healthy nutrients that growing children and teens need. Because, schools lack the proper funding needed to support students with healthy lunches, students have a horrible diet. A lot of people, including myself, believe that if healthy school lunches were provided students at home would make better choices when it came to what snacks they ate between meals. If schools got better funding for healthier lunches it could theoretically save the government more money because the students in turn would have less health problems.…
