Similarities Between The Hobbit And Greed

Three races of hobbits, dwarves, and elves all with different personalities are on an adventure and encounter obstacles along the way. In the novel, The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, it introduce the three main races, which are the hobbits, dwarves, and elves. The three races creates a big role in the storyline. There’s a group that is on an adventure throughout the map, and as their journey continues, they meet new people along the way. Although they have small similarities, the differences between hobbits, dwarves, and elves are clear. Hobbits are considered as respectful people since they don’t go on adventure as much and they don’t doing anything unexpected. The hobbits’ neighborhood is tended to be quiet usually since not much happens around that area. In the story, the hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, denied of going on an adventure with Gandalf. Bilbo said, “We are plain quiet folk and have no use for adventures” (pg 6, Tolkien). Hobbits are usually not into going on adventure, which is different from
Dwarves enjoy treasure consisting of jewelry, gold, weapons, or just treasure in general. They will have no hesitation of fighting back if someone crosses them or if they’re protecting their love ones. There narrator stated, “..there is no knowing what a dwarf will not dare and do for the revenge or recovery of his own” (pg 185, Tolkien). Dwarves had no doubt of fighting back and are warlike, while fighting was a hobbit’s last resort. Both dwarves and elves are great fighters, but even though they’re good fighters, they both have each ways of fighting. Elves are more organized and trained in combat, whereas dwarves are unorganized and uses hammers and axes for combat. Dwarves are very strong people, whereas hobbits and elves aren’t as strong as them. Elves also have a different character traits that is the same or different with the other
