Purpose of Research
The purpose of this research is to find out if lack of sleep affects students’ functionality throughout the day.
Research Question
Does the lack of sleep on school nights affect the students’ functionality throughout the school day? Hypothesis
If a student gets more sleep, then the function much better throughout the day oppose to students who get little sleep.
Methodology
Who: Students who are around the school, in the cafeteria or in class.
What: Surveying students on how much sleep they get and what their grades are.

The author states that sleep is like food for the brain and without a certain amount of sleep a day, the brain can get weak. There are many facts in this article and study based questions and answers that were asked to people about lack of sleep. In this article, readers can find out about various different disorders and problems that lack of sleep can cause the human body to have and how much damage it can bring to one’s everyday learning skills. The article also explains why people should get a certain amount (8 hours) of sleep each night and how they can be healthier than people who lack sleep. The article also has an example of students who get 9 hours of sleep and how well they do with their academic activities compared to students who lack sleep and how it affects their academic …show more content…
The article has many facts, examples, and explains the topic very well and thoroughly. These are the strengths of the article, it gets the main message about sleep across to the reader by expressing all of the important facts, giving examples, having amazing explanations and talking about health concerns that not everyone may be aware of. A weakness this article had was not giving an inside look. “Teens and Sleep” could have done better having some quotes and/or a few more real life examples. Experiences of the author or others could have helped elaborate on the information it was providing by giving the reader an inside look on an experience. The article was missing a few points such as why most teenagers lack sleep and what they do that causes them to lack sleep. Other than a few of these points the literature on lack of sleep called “Teens and Sleep” was a very effective and informative article. It briefly explained all the defects and consequences that lack of sleep can have towards students and all the good it can bring to them and their health if they receive the appropriate and average amount of sleep
