Mackinaw Island is located in the upper part of Michigan between Lake Huron, Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. It makes a perfect place for a quick getaway. Mackinaw Island is known for beautiful gardens and unforgettable scenery to view. The Arch Rock is one of the unique places. A huge carved hole in the rock makes it very impressive. The Butterfly House is also something phenomenal to see. Hundreds of butterflies fly in the house. The pretty colors make the butterflies very attractive. Some people come from out of state to enjoy the theme park in spring and summer break. It is a fun place because there are many things to do even though it is less rides. I still love all the roller coasters and my favorite roller coaster is the Alpengist. Lines can be long, but never disappoints me at all. Amazing roller coasters their I like most of them. They have roller coasters for adults and young children. They also have wolves, goats and a dog it is kind of cool because they are very shy and curious. During the summer time, they have fireworks. This is the best feature in the park. Everyone also enjoys the Howl-O-Scream and Christmas Town. I've never been to the Christmas town, but I heard it is nice. In December, Christmas lights are placed on the rides as décor. I really enjoy seeing penguins and having fun visiting all the different…

The Highlands Hammock is an important staple to our community, and is renowned throughout the country, though not as much as the raceway. One of the many activities available is tubing. To tube, you get on a round raft type of object and you sit in the middle of it and ride down the river. You can see all the beautiful things around you, such as the trees, the little islands and the wildlife on the sides of the river. The trees are a brilliant green all summer and in spring they bloom with lovely white and pink colors. In autumn, they turn a bright red, yellow, and orange, lighting up the river. Some islands look eerie in winter because it is hard to see through all the branches and trees, giving the island a dark, spooky look. Other islands look warm and inviting, beckoning you in with their luscious branches full of different colored leaves. The wildlife looks beautiful, sometimes family of deer are visible; you can usually see one or two yearlings with their mother. Other times you can see chunky little groundhogs, usually during spring time. To see the groundhogs, you have to pay attention minutely because they are usually undistinguished among all the trees and the ground. Kayaking and canoeing are other options, which are both just as entertaining as tubing except they are more serene. You can put your hands in the river and sometimes feel the scaly fish rub up against your hand.…

    Great Wolf Lodge Weekend

We spent most of the weekend at the indoor water park. There were two different slides where all four of us could ride in one raft. My favorite ride was the Howlin’ Tornado, which dropped riders into a six-story funnel in the beginning. Once you are through the funnel, it throws you back and forth up thirty feet on each side while spinning you around in circles. It was a real rush! We all enjoyed the Slap Tail Pond wave pool, which had three-foot waves every few minutes. We rode the waves on a tube for part of the time and then relaxed in the edge of the water the rest of the time. Fort Mackenzie was a neat four-story interactive tree house with two smaller twin slides called Totem Towers on one side. At the very top of the Totem Towers, there was a giant bucket that filled up with water nonstop. Once the bucket was full, it would dump 1000 gallons of water over the entire tree house and everyone around it. There was so much water spraying from every direction that it was impossible not to get drenched. It was fun and exciting to anticipate when the bucket would empty again.…

When one thinks of summer, it immediately comes to mind the sight of sandy beaches, amusement parks and hot sunny days. Coney Island, an extravagant vacation playground to visit especially for the summer. I have recently had an opportunity to come to such a wonderful place that the sights are still engraved in my mind. There were other attractions that I have missed out on mainly since I had only one day there. If time was not an issue, I would have definitely visited more programs that they provide. Getting there is also not a problem due to their cheap and handy subway system. One thing to be cautioned about is that it can get extremely busy on the weekends, so the best time to be there would be on the weekdays, especially if you do not want…

Due to painful lives Korean had been experienced, South Korea initially opposed the addition of the Hashima Island to the UNESCO World Heritage site. The Korean government asked the Japanese government to acknowledge the historical fact that Korean forced laborers were used on the island during World War II and mention it publicly. Therefore, Japan acknowledged the tragic history of the island and announced before the approval of Hashima Island that “there were large number of Koreans and others who were brought against their will and forced to work under harsh conditions in the 1940s at some of the sites [including Hashima Island]” (Aljazeera). Later, when Hashima Island was approved as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Fumio Kishida, the Japanese Foreign Minister, publicly announced that the remarks [forced to work under harsh conditions] by the Japanese government representative did not mean "forced labor”, but Korean and others voluntarily worked on the Hashima Island (Gil). Japanese government changed their statements right after the approval and has ignored the painful lives from victims. Japan’s actions…
