Unlike the Health Belief Model, the Social Cognitive Theory uses the perception the individuals receive from their other peers. The Social Cognitive Theory uses the actions of one person to persuade the actions of another. The Health Belief Model, on the other hand, is all individual perceptions. Peers and other individuals are not effected in the Health Belief Model.

Self-regulatory leads up to the health behavior. Schwarzer stated “the pursuit of a goal behavior change can be subdivided into a sequence of activities, such as planning, initiation, maintenance, relapse management, and disengagement.”
The Health Action Process Approach is similar to the Social Cognitive Theory because both are dealing with a sort of behavior change. According to Schwarzer, health-related behavior is adopted and then maintained not through an act of will, but rather through the development of self-regulatory skill and strategies. In the MATCH model, the emphasis of the outcome is placed at the end of the model. For my target population, I feel that the PRECEDE-PROCEED model worked much better for my situation because I believe that it is more goal oriented. By placing an important emphasis on the outcome at the beginning of the model, this makes it more realistic in my opinion. Having the goal stated in the beginning gives you that sense that you are constantly working towards something. This will be much more successful in my target
